Just got back from Athens and as much as I want to be disappointed after yesterday, I find myself very apathetic to what I witnessed. Tennessee is now 2-4 and still doing the same crap they've been doing all year, not changing a thing. Georgia WR's were running wide open all over the field, yet our DB's play 10 yards off. We bring pressure and the DB stays 10 yards off. The coaches still can't find a way to get a freshman All-American on the field. Other than Eric Berry, nobody seemed to really care out there.. no intensity, no fire whatsoever. All yesterday did for me was prove that last year vs. Georgia was a complete abberation and should have never happened. And as much as I want this entire coaching staff removed, I fear that CPF will find another scapegoat and send Clawson and his crew packing and handcuff somebody else as O.C.

I think we are seriously looking at 6-6 and a trip to the toilet bowl at best...if thats the case then I don't think it matters if we win the bowl game or not...Fulmer's put...and I'm no even sure he woul dget to coach that bowl game if we're 6-6 at the end of the season

8 tackles and an INT is a pretty good game for a d-lineman.

6-6???...And exactly what 4 games do you see us winning?...Vandy?...Kentucky?...USCe??..We can't SCORE!...Hell even Wyoming is scaring me right now :eek:hmy: Miss St is a scary one too and Alabama is going to completely wax us on our home field....I feel sick :sick:

Probably, but I firmly believe John Parker Wilson will single-handedly lose at least one game for Bama. Why not against us? I could see him throwing 4 TD passes... 3 to orange jerseys :)

I agree, I'm apathic as well. Normally watching UT get beat would get me in a crappy mood and I would be hoping beyond hope UT would pull it out even til the final whistle. Yesterday I just shrugged my shoulders and turned it to another game.

It's sad when I start treating the Vols like I do the Cubs; expecting disappointment.

I understand . I am there to. I never want the vols to lose. However I really wasnt that upset about this one. The one bright spot is that with that loss its one step closer to seeing a change around here.
Its just makes me sick to expect the vols to lose. Whats worse is for things to get better they will have to lose at least one more. :sick:

It will probably take more than just one more. Someone is hell bent on keeping phil around.

I hope not. I am sick about this. I dont want the vols to lose but I dont want another few years of what is happening now. Something has to be done.

That's the thing... regardless of what happens, we're in for another few years of frustration. The damage this season is doing to our recruiting will not be fixed easily. We're going to have to rebuild.

We have exactly two chances of a quick return to prominence. Fulmer's staff and philosophy changes drastically, or we go out and get a huge name for a new coach, one who can bring instant credibility and bring the top recruits immediately. And that is going to take tons of cash, considering that this is not a desirable job to someone like that, due to the state of the program and the lack of in-state talent.

There is no quick and easy fix, I'm afraid :(

We have the cash if we are willing to spend it. The job is probably more desireable than most think. I wouldnt think Duke football would be a really desirable coaching job but cutclife took it.
Now I am not expecting a NC with a new coaching staff next year just an improvement.
I am just sick of us having to lose to make a change to improve things.

Even if Fulmer's philosophy was to change drastically, I don't think that would help. He simply isn't putting the same caliber of talent on the field as he was 10 years ago. Now whether that is recruiting or player development I don't know. (I kind of think it's actually both) Either way, a change in scheme or philosophy isn't going to help when we are out-talented essentially every week.

We play to the talent we have and not for the talent we wish for,BUT dont worry we do neither and it shows a drastic CHANGE NEEDS to come for next yr.

Your right about not much pressure at duke. I would say there are probably a number of coaches who would love to coach the talent we have. just someone to instill decipline in the team would be a big improvement. It wont necesarily take a pete carrol or some big name to make a big improvement.

No, I just think it'll take a huge name to avoid a giant drop-off in recruiting for a couple of years at least

I dont know about a giant drop off but there may be some drop off in recruiting. If there are no changes made though it will get much worse. The sooner things change the sooner they get better.

Did GA convert on 3rd and long?
How many times did we run up the middle on 1st down when it was obvious it WASN"T working?
How painful to watch! I think if Nick had been given a chance to play earlier, we could have won UCLA and AU. He has potential and could have made a critical difference. It was such a blah game it even seemed like the GA fans weren't even in it....boring to play a TN team like we have now. At least we scored more points than I thought we would.
