UGA's Sherrer on joining Vols: 'Wasn't a hard decision'

This x 1,000.
It's like any career - one makes the moves that hopefully lead to your goal. That is why I find the Randy Sanders situation so interesting. He took HUGE cut in pay and stepped down a level. I am sure ETSU is not his "dream job."

Nm, it is what it is

I dont mind hiring Pruitt and the other guys, but I cant help but think we should have hired Tee if we were gonna hire a coordinator who has never been a head coach before.

I’d of hired Tee too if I was in the market for hiring a coach who wouldn’t be successful. Pruitt is by far the better coach. We done good with this hire.

Great we get to help more former Alabama players. :thud:

I mean it's a "lose-lose" situation. I mean of course I want Tennessee to win, but... I guess it's just root for them to win and try not to think about the other part. Sorry guys this is just hard for me, because I hate Alabama the most followed closely by Florida.

WTF are you talking about?

WTF are you talking about?

Well you could leave out that abbreviation and ask the same thing for one.

What I am talking about is hiring a bunch of guys that lived in Alabama, played for Alabama, and coached for Alabama.

I hate Alabama and while I am not saying we should only hire UT guys, just hate asking them to help us. Just wanted to find a great coach from somewhere other than Alabama or Florida.
I am not talking about this if he just coached there, so did not grow up rooting and playing for them btw.

But as I posted not long ago it is what it is and I will just root for my Vols

And I merely wanted a great coach. Hope we found one.

Damn straight. Read an article today about the chances of Dabo going back to Bama. According to Dabo's son- what for?

Tennessee is Pruitt's team now and he has free reign to put his stamp on it and he's gonna do it. Good coaches don't walk away from something they've built. Being raised near the Tennessee River in NE AL. he's just as much Tennessee as you can find. Let him smell a championship here and he'll stay.

Never forget North Alabama is the Tennessee Valley. They get their power from TVA and the Tennessee River runs straight thru as well. When I was stationed at Redstone Arsenal back in the day, John Ward and UT football was on nearly every radio station in Huntsville and echoed thru the barracks on game day.

I was stationed at RSA a few years ago. I found it very interesting that people would either say they are from Huntsville OR the TENNESSEE VALLEY. They rarely mentioned the word "Alabama"! A whole lotta Tennesse fans live there!!!!

Alrighty then. I guess clemmy fans should fire Dabo and those filthy dawgs should fire Kirby. Those fan bases hate bama, too. Maybe they should hire fellas from the mid-majors...like Butch Jones and his pals. They could pick up someone from the Big 12...or maybe-just-maybe they should find the best coaches for UT's chances to (a) win the SEC east, (b) compete annually for the SEC championship so they can finally, (c) find themselves in the final mix for that NC final four. Who'd YOU pick? Give it up, fellow Vol buddy. Thanks to ADPF's excellently orchestrated hiring process, this once nearly pulse-less program suddenly became very, very relevant again. All these coaches are in-it-to-win-it. All of it! GBO!! :rock2:

Man I repeated myself so many times, yet you say same thing I have replied to and made clear!!!! Alabama is not Clemson's rival, so I am sure that does not matter to them for one. Also Dabo is one coach which I stated if one or two coaches I could over look!!!!!!

Kirby played for Georgia fyi, so that made no sense, I even said I am not talking about Alabama' s "hired guns" I am talking about guys that grew up in Alabama, Played for Alabama and therefore root for Alabama got it?

Are you freaking serious? We've had Dooley, Jones, and Kiffin as our last three coaches. I just want a great coach; I don't give a damn where they're from.

It's got to be a tough decision to leave a winning team like Georgia to go to a program on the re-build. But, a great way to prove you can make winners. Good luck to him. Go Vols!

Tough decision? He moved from a position coach to a DC, and he had the rare opportunity to do it at an SEC school. He had to take it - his next DC opportunity would have probably been in CUSA or something.

When you're a young coach and moving up, you are basically a Paladin. It's "Have gun, will travel."

Some folks live for the challenge , we’re extremely fourtunate to get him.

Silly sentiment. I hate, I hate, I hate. Really? I think a large portion of the Vols fan base needs to reevaluate what rivalry should mean. Hate is not a healthy part of rivalry. These teams are not enemies vying for world domination. They are teams of young adults pursuing an education. Strong desire to defeat your opponent with honor and dignity are the operative components of rivalry.

For all who worry about bama guys etc. Bammer's most successful, Bear and Saban aren't Alabama born and bread. If JP is very successful here it's likely he would stay here.

Bear Bryant was an All-American at Bama. He was from Arkansas.
