UGA vs Fla..

34-7. Isn't recruiting a big part of coaching?

Yes! Yes it is! I'm not discounting the recruiting and it's definitely part of coaching but I was very specific when I said that I think Mullen is a better GAME DAY coach. He just doesn't have GA's athletes. All things being equal, I really do believe Mullen would beat Kirby more often than not.

He’ll never recruit as well as Kirby though

The shine on Mullen as a superior coach is fading. He has talent. He lost to UK. He lost to an LSU team coached by an amazing buffoon. If not for so many mistakes by UT... Mullen could be 3-5 right now.

I want him to survive long enough for Heupel to build some depth and get more talent. Good measuring stick.

Is that because defense just isn’t as sexy now? Could you argue he’s as good of a x/o defensive coach as Mullen is an offensive coach? And it just so happens offense is easier to dominate with now days? I guess define game day coach? Is it only in game decisions? Or does the week of practice and scouting leading up to the week count as that? I think it’s an interesting debate, I think a 4th and 3 fake punt is probably the biggest driver of that argument, but would be interested to define game day coaching.

Well, it was posted on another forum I’m on. Backstory is (It was reported - and not confirmed) that she is/was the girlfriend of one of the pilots and he brought her up to the cockpit to take this pic. Do not know if it was in flight or on the ground. So, it goes around the internet and apparently the FAA is made aware of it and investigates. They determine that it was “in flight” and she’s sitting “at the controls” of an aircraft without a certificate. FAA determines the airline, flight number and crew and took certificate action against them. A very expensive photo of your girlfriend and may have been career ending. Again, that’s only the story that someone else (who may or may not have worked at said airline and with or not with said offenders) conveyed and I’ve never heard any confirmation of it beyond that. But she is quite impressive! 😎👍🏻

man that is a way cool story. The FAA has no sense of humor though. Looks to me like that embraer is on the ground though ( hard to pay attention to the airplane) I flew the jungle jet for a few years. That is without a doubt a super cool avi and story though. Thanks for sharing that!!!

Mullen had Mississippi State ranked #1 in the country at one time....Mississippi State! I seriously doubt Kirby Dumb couldve pulled that off. Also, Kirby inhereted a Rolls Royce program that Mark Richt built and already had a ton of talent on the roster! Florida had talent when Mullen got there but it wasnt exactly Urban Meyer era talent. I would take Mullen every time over Kirby Dumb when it comes to game day X's and O's.
UF fans disagree.
LETS START THE MEL TUCKER TRAIN

Billy Napier thread

It's already like we're going through a coaching change.

There are dozens more

Mullen is worse....
courtesy of Ga board....

Now let's really have some fun, let's compare Mullen's four years at Florida to Richt's final 4 at Georgia (the stretch that got him fired):
Overall Record
  • Mark Richt: 39-13 (.750)
  • Dan Mullen: 33-13 (.717)
Conference Record
  • Mark Richt: 23-9 (.719)
  • Dan Mullen: 21-11 (.656)
Titles
  • Mark Richt: 1 division title, 0 conference titles
  • Dan Mullen: 1 division title, 0 conference titles
AP Top 5 Finishes:
  • Mark Richt: 1
  • Dan Mullen: 0
AP Top 10 Finishes
  • Mark Richt: 2
  • Dan Mullen: 2

Kirby Dumb is 3-1 vs that genius HC Mullen. Don't let your Kirby hate get in the way of common sense.

Kirby hate? I was contradicting the statement that 'Richt left Kirby a loaded roaster' being why he's been successful at UGA.

Kirby kills Dummy Dan...
FIRST rule of a great leader....
Surround yourself with smart and talented people... Kirby has done that. Saban has done that. Dabo, ughhh, pretty much when he was winning. Day, has done that....

They went 8-5 in Smart's first year with Richt's talent.
I suppose Smart isn't that Smart after all..........at least in 2016 he wasn't. Today, the difference between Georgia and all of CFB is their recruiting. Talent can make coaches look smarter than they really are. Don't know if that is the case in Athens or not but nobody outside of maybe Alabama is recruiting better than Georgia right now. We land 1 great player and Georgia lands 5-10 great players. There has to be something dirty going on, there just has to be.

There are no players on the current UGA roster that Mark Richt recruited.

Kirby Smart recruiting classes:
2016 - #6
2017 - #3
2018 - #1
2019 - #2
2020 - #1
2021 - #1

As someone mentioned to you earlier, you should research before you post. You let your bias do your posting.

I saw a guy proudly and openly walking the streets of Gatlinburg while wearing a Georgia jersey just this morning.
No self-respecting dawg fan would be walking his wife down Gatlinburg Blvd the morning of the Cocktail Party. Obviously a plant trying to make UGA look bad.

Well, one program is under NCAA investigation and one is not. And the fan of the program under investigation is implying that they other program is doing the cheating. Do you see the irony here?

Are you unfamiliar with the meaning of the word, "contradicting"?

Or does the fact that you are a Georgia fan, make understanding any word with more than two syllables difficult?

Smart went 4-4 in conference play his first year, and has only lost 5 conference games total in the 4.75 seasons since.

That has nothing to do with what Mark Richt left him, and can't be attributed to recruiting alone. Even in the SEC east, it takes good coaching to end up with this sort of record:

Smart mirrors Fulmer in a lot of ways… great recruiter (which CAN win you a NC), ie Fulmer.

But like Fulmer, no one will accuse or mistake Smart as being a genius on the sideline. But it doesn’t matter when you can out talent the majority of teams you play.

Fulmer had Cutcliffe. Game day coaching and offensive development dropped off when he left, and Fulmer's recruiting alone could not produce success.

With the way they are recruiting Georgia has the East on lockdown till 2023 or longer but Kirby still has to get that Bama monkey off his back at some point.
