OFF the ESPN BLOG,,(not the rag Bleacher Report which should be banned from use as an example), it seems five secondary football violations,,, I don't remember the national media hyping this at all. Some of us felt like we were the ultimate sinners for our indiscretions, and those that felt that way should open their eyes.

ESPN -"It's also true that all secondary violations aren't reported in the media. Some are higher profile than others.

For example, Georgia self-reported 14 secondary violations during the first six months of 2008, according to The Athens Banner-Herald. Only five of those violations involved the football program, though. Among those violations were a recruit and his family being provided transportation by an athletic representative and the coaching staff going to a recruit's high school one more time than was permitted during the spring evaluation period.

I think I read somewhere that the average NCAA school has somewhere around 60 to 70 secondary violations per year on average.

Yeah, I always hate it when Stuart Scott and John Anderson start trolling around here with their anti-UT commentary. Lee Corso posts here under a Gator-friendly alias and it really almost ruins the board for me.

:wink2:

What the hell does Phil Fulmer have to do with this?

He set the standard for football coaching according to many posters on here. His brain dead cult like followers keep doing their best muckraker impersonation.

exactly. our secondary recruiting violations made headlines because our coach put himself under the microscope, intentionally. however, i do feel that the Saban:bump3: should have gotten more attention, given that it was supposedly a primary violation. in the end, i think our violations were quickly forgotten, and coach Kiffin emerged as a big name in CFB. (refer to the FL recruits thread for example.) this is a good time for us to get down to football, and out of the headlines, though, except for the hopeful announcement of one of the remaining recruits.

Its not all the local media and that other coaches fans as Johnny Majors says,,, it was also ESPN and other major market media who pick up on this stuff and highlight it. I am sure at the SEC office there is a list with secondary violations for all schools and I am equally sure that all the major football powers and even some minor schools (ex. USCe) are listed with these types of violations.

My point was not to bash Georgia here, they have not done anything much here either --- the point was that there have been posters around this site - not all of them trolls - who have bashed the coaching staff over nothing more than jaywalking violations. Those that have shouted about nothing need to wake up and stop being naive, stupid, or both. I.E., grow up because the sky is not falling.
