And btw, why does Conor get to fight someone he wasn't even meant to fight, after leaving his belt to go challenge out of his weight class...instead of actually defending it? Why not go back to your weight division and actually defend it against the people right there who clearly are waiting. Wasn't Aldo prevented from leaving to fight at 155 by Dana lol? I mean come on.

He's their cash cow and he knows it.

I can see two different thought processes driving McG's decision to go 170:

He wants to beat him at that weight to prove something.

Diaz is at his best at 155. His frame isn't built to get much benefit out of going up 15 lbs. McG is shorter, but has a wide frame. If he's been killing it in the weight room ever since the last fight, he might be a pretty formidable 170 lbs by the time July rolls around.

I'm sorry, but this ain't boxing with all the promoters and fight dodging bull****. McGregor is obligated to defend his belt when a challenger is presented, and if he doesn't, he forfeits the belt. None of this interim crap. Frankie Edgar deserves a title shot against Conor, end of story.

I agree and I don't think McG cares. Is he even going back to 145? I don't think he's training for 170 with the intent to go back to 145 anytime soon.

I think he does want to dodge Edgar. I think he's biding his time until he can go after Dos Anjos' LW belt. Then he gets that, defends it once or twice. Goes back to 145 at an opportune time when the belt isn't being held by a dominant wrestler.

He makes a bunch of money, builds his legend, and can claim he's not dodging anyone.

"I swear to God, the UFC thinks it was an accident or something," Diaz told ESPN. "They think it was an accident and now they're saying, 'let's get Nate back in there and take him out before he gets any bigger.' I don't think so. I've fought everyone in the UFC and they better give me some m-----f------ compliments if I win this fight."

So Dana says McG was obsessed with fighting Diaz again and that after this fight he is indeed going back to 145 to fight the winner of Edgar/Aldo.

Daniel Cormier injured, out of UFC 197 rematch against Jon Jones - MMA Fighting

An injury has forced Cormier, the UFC light heavyweight champion, to withdraw from the fight, MMAFighting.com has confirmed via multiple sources. Cormier wasn't available for comment when contacted by MMAFighting.com Friday night.

Rumble is probably the worst LHW matchup for Jones. Jones' size and skill set makes him a mismatch for almost anybody, but AG and Rumble have length and can strike. Jones can't bulldog them like Cormier did. I don't think AG can put Jones away, but Rumble most definitely can.
