Bones is the GOAT. That left leg kick knocked DC out. Jones seems to have turned a corner in his life and the UFC desperately needs him

Bad look for DC after the fight. Dana White looked pretty pissed at him. I wouldn't be surprised if he retires after that

Losing to the greatest ever isn't reason to retire. I think Cormier has a lot of good fighting left. I would like to see him fight Manuwa next. They've had words in the past, it's an interesting match stylistically, and they're both coming off knockout losses.

they were close it D.C. Was landing more significant strikes. Jones just landed the final one. I think D.C. Was on his way to winning the fight if he didn't gas. But, should've blocked that head kick

I probably would have given the first couple of rounds to DC but after the 2nd round, in his corner, Jones didn't even look like he'd been fighting. It was only a matter of time before he caught him

And Bones is the GOAT. Best resume, easily

Idk about easily. Fedor's top wins are better than most people realize, and yes he got fed a lot of tomato cans too. I also feel like some of Bones best wins aren't as impressive at second glance. The Machida puzzle had been solved, Shogun was on the backside of his career, and Evans was on his way to gatekeeper status. I do think Glover is a better win than most probably.

I know the argument will be "fighters are more well rounded today" and they are, but outside of Shogun and AG, who is well rounded that JJ beat? Machida, Page, and Belfort were only strikers. Bader and Evans could catch people but mostly wrestlers/grinders, same for DC. What is impressive about JJ and Fedor is they usually beat opponents in their strongest area of fighting.

I'm not trying to poop on his accomplishments, just looking deeper into them. I do think overall it's better because he isn't old getting knocked out by mid-tier guys yet. Lol Anderson is the tricky one because he was basically the RJJ of his division, so far ahead of everyone else even decent fighters looked mediocre against him.

I love Fedor but who did he beat that were that great? Nog, Randleman, Hunt, Arlovski, and Crocop are the big names that come to mind. Not exactly murderer's row. The other thing is Fedor got beat up a lot. AG is the only guy to put a hurt on Bones.

That Nog would have murdered 95% of the division, he was ****ing scary at the time, the best win for either guy. IMO Arona was a really good win, beat Hendo, Horn and Wandy. I'm just saying it's closer than people think. As for who did he beat that was great? I can ask the same about Jones

Their wins for me are sorted like this.

Great wins (guys at the top of their game at the time they fought)
Jones-AG and DC 2 times
Fedor-Cro Cop and Nog 2 times

Good wins
Jones-Evans, Machida, Bader, Page and Glover,

Fedor-Randleman, Arlovski, Arona

Big name but early or downside of career wins or just simply overrated big names. I could easily put Bader here but won't.
Jones-Shogun, Belfort,
Fedor-Lindland, Coleman 2 times, and Goodridge

That's pretty close to me.

Edited for redundancy

I love Shogun, but at that point he had to much wear and tear to be Shogun all the time and was on the backside of his career. FWIW I'd probably have him in my top 10 all time.

I don't wtf I was thinking with Page, edited for stupidity. Though he wasn't fully himself either, just stood in front of people and got punched, the Rampage slams were long gone, luckily he punched really f'n hard. But yeah that was a good win. My bad.

FWIW I don't think very highly of Bader, or Shad really. I know Shad was the Champ, but it was kind of the perfect storm for him to win it, I don't think he holds it in any other time frame.

Who is your top 3, Jones, Anderson and Fedor? I think it's those 3 by a decently wide margin. Then guys like GSP (not finishing hurts him IMO), Hughes, Shogun, Wandy, Nog, Frank Shamrock, and somebody that gets slept on IMO Bas Rutten. Maybe Mighty Mouse?

Not much of a Chuck fan either, I think he was the 3rd or 4th best 205er in the world during his reign as Champ.

Bader is a good wrestler, but that can only take you so far. You have to be a great athlete or have other skills.

Probably

Jones
Silva
Fedor
GSP
Mighty Mouse

Biggest factor being they all spent so much time at the top. I didn't watch enough of Rutten to place him.

I love him but he's not elite status. He beat Couture twice and Couture later became HW champ. I think that is a huge boost to Chuck's resume.

I see a lot of people on other boards saying that Jones needs to prove himself at heavyweight to be considered the best, but that is just nonsense in my opinion. There are still two or three fights for him at light heavyweight. I already consider him the best ever, but I would like to see him beat Gustafsson convincingly, then fight Oezdemir. Rumble has hinted at making a return. He and Jones never fought, and that is a fight I would like to see. Manuwa could bounce back and earn a shot as well. I don't think Jones has to prove anything at heavyweight. I've seen people bring up Silva moving up a weight class, but he was clearly on another level than everyone he moved up to face except for Cormier, and that was later in his career and on short notice.

He obviously doesn't belong in the top group now, but I still think Cormier belongs in the top ten on anyone's list. His only two losses are to the best ever. He was undefeated at heavyweight and won the light heavyweight championship, and has several notable wins. I can't think of ten guys better than him.

2 wins vs cormier fully legitimized Bones. I wanna see all those fights.

Yeah that's just people finding dumb sh*t to pick at. He does need to keep his sh*t together and fight more than once a decade though.
