UF interviewing Coach Gillespie

I asked Gillespie personally about a month ago and he said he wasn't going anywhere. The only possible interest would be an OC job. Plus wifey said she wasn't having it. He also said Butch never wants to go home so he doesn't either. Just recruiting 247.

I believe he genuinely likes working with Butch. That's more important than anything, other than money, imo. I think when Butch hired our coaches our desperate need of continuity was discussed with them all. I believe they all stay for at least 3 years.

I really hope this is true. Would love to see what CRG can do with the elite depth we will have next year.

It's what he said. So I take him at his word until proven wrong. Great guy too. Took it upon himself to chat with my 9yr old son about school and football plus signed his TN hoodie😁

It's just nice to be in a position that other schools want our coaches and not the coaches wanting to leave because of the head coach.

Wonder if he'll pull a ''tee Martin'' and stay with us. Or go back home.

If offered a new title beside his name, I am sure he would leave. Maybe Recruiting Coordinator/Runningbacks coach.
In order to be a head coach, you would need to be a Defensive Coordinator or Offensive Coordinator. The more responsibility a position coach has will help them move in to the D. or O. Coordinator position. From my understanding, this is why Jay Graham left to go to FSU. Little more money and an added title beside his name to help him eventually get to the Coordinator position.

Gillespie has done a good job, it was only a matter of time before Fl came calling. Probably a tough decision for him. He seems to like it here, and the Rb's we have coming in this class are amazing. Anyway, good luck to him whatever he decides to do. GBO

This is what had me thinking he wouldn't go anywhere. We've got a nice group of backs that could make him look real good the next few years

Bingo. It's a business and you put your family first. Tee, Jay and the like don't want to be QB/WR/RB/Recruiting coordinators forever. In Tee's case, he lobbied for a job here when he was at KY... and Dooley never returned his call.

Loyalty to your alma mater only gets you so far in a profession with minimal job security. Look at John Chavis. You can't name me a person who had more loyalty to his program. He wanted to stay even after Phil was gone, but Hamilton relieved him of his duties so he could hire Kiffin who promised to bring his dad. It would be wonderful to see Tee, Jay Graham or whoever coaching here, but you can't blame them for not coming or leaving when a better opportunity comes up.

If Gillespie stays, it's not because he bleeds more Orange than blue, but because he feels he is in a better situation and wouldn't make a lateral move where he might not have the security he has now.

He left because kiffin is a douche.

Believe Dooley hired Jay Graham and Butch tried to keep him on but he left for FSU.
I remember that stinging pretty bad, but wasnt it like a month or two after he left we signed Hurd? After failing to land a big name back in his time here.

Correct...under Gillespie we have quite a run of highly rated backs.

It seems obvious that he would be contacted and consider the offer.

Most of the time... you really can't go home. The only good reason to leave is if he isn't happy where he's at.

That said, he is replaceable. Obviously asst's are important but Jones is the key guy in recruiting. There are better RB coaches available.
