UF Game

When I did the band thing at UT, a kid called in sick for the game. Guess who we saw waiting in line for a hot dog while we did stadium tours in the 3rd quarter?

That was his last week as a member of the Pride.

Keep the job, obviously.

1) If Florida wins, you don't feel like a schmuck for having quit a paying gig to go watch that.

2) If Tennessee wins, you can tell the ladies that you wanted to go but had to work, and they will admire your sense of responsibility and priorities, and you shall have large amounts of sex.

Leave all the food out the night before and let it all get spoiled.

The restraunt will be forced to close on the 18th!

BOOM!

Call in sick, go tailgate + go to the game, then drink til you vomit after the game so you technically were sick.
Geez you'd think a senior in college would be savvy enough to know these things...

Im just a server at a local resturant. I would be able to find another one fairly easy. But I really want to go to the game.

Go to the game and let the chips fall where they may. There are plenty of restaurants out there.

man that was stupid, even though the game is large with thousands of fans not worth it. it's almost like being a waiter and calling in and then going there to eat

I used to ask for/mark off days off weeks in advance at my job back home, and they'd still schedule me.

I used to just not go to work those days, and, since the days off were written on a calendar in the building, I would point that out and usually avoid trouble. Then again, I was a solid employee that never called in or skipped work.

It depends on the place, really.

That sounds like something a few people in my old section would be dumb enough to try. Last year would have been the year to do it though, the band was too small to do stadium tours.

You'll learn soon enough that the most important tenet of career success is to "beg forgiveness" rather than "ask permission". You've missed that opportunity in this case. The correct move would have been to simply not show up and then say "I forgot" afterwards. You would have received a minor slap on the wrist and kept your job and still attended the game.

This is too obvious....quit the job....Go to the game....work the rest of the season as a server at Neyland Stadium!

On the 18th, one of few things are going to happen.(If you want to go the game, and calling in sick isn't an option)

1. You're grandmother will die a very terrible death. :cray:

2. The girlfriend you don't have will go into labor. :yikes:

3. The house you don't have will catch fire. :devilsmoke:

4. You'll be a victim of a robbery. Nu'Keese is in town. :ninja:

5. You'll get into a massive car crash; Breaking both legs, your arm, your back, and most any other part of the body utilized during usual work hours. :banghead2:

Set off the fire alarms or sprinklers in enough time to leave and get there before kickoff.....

I can relate to this. I actually quit my job in college in 2006 for the Florida game. Even though we lost, I still didn't regret it. I just took off the rest of the fall and enjoyed not having to worry about schedule conflicts with anything. You're only in college once, so you might as well enjoy it as much as possible.

If you asked for the day off and then called in sick, they'll probably fire you anyways.

Might as well hand in your two week notice now so you could use them as a reference when you apply for your next job.

I'd go to the doctor and get a note. If they fire him then it'd be a lawsuit.

Since this is my first thread I thought that this would be a good thing to ask. So Im highly considering quitting my job so that I can go to the Florida game. I had requested it off weeks ago but they still scheduled me. Its my last home Florida game of my college years and I wont be able to go to Gainesville next year. Am I crazy for thinking about doing this or would some of you do the same?

If you love Tennessee like I do the Gators, go to the game...

I've done this before when I was in college. I don't remeber if it was the Florida game or not. I ended up calling the next morning and as they were telling me that I would be fired if I didn't come in, I said that I was calling to let you know that I quit.

Go Vols!

Good advice. If you turn in your notice, and tell them why, if you are worth it, they will change the schedule.
