England definitely got the toughest 2nd round draw.
If they win their group they'll play second place in that group of death (France, Portugal & Germany)...

we should do some type of pick-em if anybody is interested (or I'll just do my own and post here lol)

guess we could just do the group stage now and then the later stages once the group stage is done

Good idea, we should do both the group stages and the round of 16

alright, here are my group stage picks (in the `spoiler` tags). I put them in order of how I think they'll finish, of course with the bold teams being the ones to advance out of the group stage.

not super sure on group C or group F (the group of death)

Group A: Italy, Switzerland, Wales, Turkey
Group B: Belgium, Denmark, Russia, Finland
Group C: Netherlands, Ukraine, Austria, North Macedonia
Group D: England, Croatia, Czech Republic, Scotland
Group E: Spain, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia
Group F: France, Germany, Portugal, Hungary

nice! I like how we only have group B in common

And I kind of agree with your group F - I could 100% see that happening and I think both of those two you have advancing are a bit stronger than who I have in second, but it's hard for me to pick against them. guess we'll see how it shakes out!

Just curious.

Which teams will you root for and who do you think will win?

From the odds, the two most competitive matches of the first round are Scotland vs Czech Republic and Germany vs France

I'll do more predictions after the group stage, but I'm going to go with France and Portugal in the final and France to win it all.

as far as who I want: honestly I don't care all that much - I feel like I don't really have a dog in the fight and really just liking good games/matchups. I'd say top teams for me to watch would be Portugal, spain, england, france, croatia, belgium, netherlands - really all the teams that make the Euros are good for the most part lol. but watching any matchups of the top 8-10 teams are what I like most

Excited this kicks off today. Would like to see either England or Belgium end up winning the whole thing.

Seems odd to me that they've chosen to ride it out with the 2020 branding on everything. Seems like it would have been easy enough to update all the signage, logos, etc. to at least have the correct year.

Just noticed this thread. Excited for Euros this year--there are a lot of competitive teams in very, very tough groups this year. Most insane group of death I've ever seen. Got to agree with @bleedorange0037 riding out the 2020 branding is a really interesting strategy.

As for pick-em, think I'll have to go with this:

Group A: Italy, Turkey, Switzerland, Wales
Group B: Belgium, Denmark, Russia, Finland
Group C: Netherlands, Austria, Ukraine North Macedonia
Group D: England, Croatia, Czech Republic, Scotland
Group E: Spain, Poland, Sweden, Slovakia
Group F: Portugal, France, Germany, Hungary

Mainly excited to see if we will have a team rise through out of obscurity to challenge this year a la Greece in '04.

regarding the "keeping of the 2020" theme: I think that just might be a trend for a bit. the olympics are still "tokyo 2020". maybe it's so people with OCD don't freak out in some years when looking at the competition history/stats and every one has a name/title with a four year difference except for the 2020/2021 competitions

I’d like to see England win it, but they somehow always screw it up.

Heard yesterday on talkSPORT radio that England has never won their first match in the Euros ever which is hard to believe

For me personally, I’d like to see Hungary do well since that is where both of my parents are from. But they are in the Group of Death with France, Germany and Portugal so it will get ugly for them. The only thing they have going for them is they get to play at home.

Would also like to see Wales and Scotland do well.
As well as any Arsenal players, Saka with England, Tierney with Scotland, Leno with Germany, Xhaka with Switzerland but I think he is leaving for Roma.

There should be a good tournament. So many great players but not many countries play as a TEAM.. Italy is looking pretty good, and they’re hosting. Belgium, France and England if they can put it together all have a chance

Would be fitting for another long suffering group of fans to win something when there’s still no way for anybody to celebrate or enjoy the full experience. Just like Liverpool winning their first title in decades and Everton broke their Derby losing streak.

Several my friends in the area are English and like myself West Ham fans so I wouldn’t mind to see England win it… They would go mental! even though I can’t stand several of their players! ha ha
