But it just makes Phil mad.

i would think the same thing but Steele has UCLA as his 21st ranked team this year. Is it just me or does the Phil Steele formula factor in a heavy bias against us every year?

he most definetly does not have UCLA ranked anywhere near 21st. Maybe you are thinking of Cal? i believe he has them finishing 6th or 7th in the pac-10.

35-3 Vols is my prediction. UCLA's offense is going to be horrible.

I think droski is on to something. UCLA lost a ton of production on both sides of the ball. They have some talent but they're definitely rebuilding. They lost most of their statistical leaders on D.

I think UT will win. Just a guess right now- +3 to 5 scores. The keys to the margin will be UT's D against UCLA's run game and whether UT's O will be able to put it into the end zone and get a few big plays. IOW's, "will Clawson have found his playmakers by then?"

Isn't their offensive line very depleted?

Looks like UCLA's two deep at OL will include 6 Fr and a Soph to go with 3 Jr's. (Rivals depth chart updated 6/19/08)

DL is a little better experience wise but not much.

All in all, Rivals lists 27 of their 44 man two deep as Sophs or Fr.

that is an understatement. they only have a few healthy linemen and recently converted a guy from TE who is now a starter. cowan, the better of the two qbs, is out for the season. olson (the relatively healthy qb) stinks. they also don't have a single major playmaker at WR or RB.

lol, sounds good to me. I'd say it will be a more pleasant trip out to the west coast than last year.

30-13 Tennessee. Their lone TD comes on a blocked punt return for 6 halfway through the 4th quarter.

Foster: 24 carries, 114 yds, 2 TDs (including a 40 yarder)
Crompton: 14-32, 178 yds, 1 TD (27 yds to Taylor) 0 INT
G Jones: 3 carries for 40 yds, 0 TD, 4 rec for 35 yds
Creer: 14 carries, 74 yds, TD called back for holding

Ayers: 2 sacks, 3 tackles
Williams: 1 sack, 6 tackles
McCoy: 12 tackles
Berry: 1 INT, 4 tackles

I'm bored at work as if you couldn't tell.......

I was going to mention bell, but i wouldn't call him a gamebreaker at all. "pretty good player" is probably about right. He wouldn't have started for at least half of the pac-10 teams last year IMO.

blah blah blah ''beary'' funny:post-4-1090547912:
I'm not joking dude. This defense shut down Forsett last year and beat us in the Rose Bowl. Pretty much the majority of that line is returning, so you're going to be facing off with a familiar crew.

Plus DeWayne Walker runs some of the best cover packages in the Pac-10. Even USC struggles with them. Don't underestimate their defense--this one will be little bit closer than you expect, especially with Chow running the offense.

don't worry we'll just copy the ND offense for this game

Look for our defense (yes, even the D-line) to completely manhandle UCLA. They will not be able to pass on us- and will become one deminsional.

Our offense will sputter in the first half, then come together in the second.

21-7

Vols.

UCLA's offensive line will be their undoing on that side of the ball. I would expect our front seven to be in the QB's face all night. Chavis will probably play man-to-man and bring pressure.

I think that UCLA will be fair in their defensive front 7, but their secondary will cost them big IMO. Clawson will exploit this and probably go for a few home runs which Crompton excells in throwing. By the second half the run game should take over for the VOLS.

Tennessee 31
UCLA 13

I see the vols blowing this open early and often. Too many athletes for the Pac-10. Another thing somebody will have to pay for the Cal loss. Pencil in UCLA.

49-10 Vols all day.
