UCLA in a lot worse shape than thought

You know what pisses me off the most about Nico? Just as soon as I figure out the proper way to pronounce his name, he heads to the West Coast. Kinda exaggerating a bit, but not the easiest name. Either way, you guys are better off unfortunately!😂🤣😂

Tennessee was getting 6+ yards every time they ran the ball in 2008 vs. UCLA, yet Clawson kept chosing to have Crompton throw the ball 6 feet above the receivers’ heads. It was driving me crazy.

That was one of the worst Tennessee coaching jobs I’ve been seen. I still have nightmares about their TEs posting up in center field and getting first downs on demand in the second half.

UCLA only had 4 scholarship offensive linemen IIRC and lost to BYU 59-0 the following week.

I wonder if the Dad was part of this threatening to sit Nico if Foster wasn't canned.

His NIL value is not going to increase playing for that horrible team and he risks getting hurt. Sitting out the rest of the year is probably the best alternative at this point. But then sitting out cuts off his NIL money and can the family survive without that?

Regardless of what happens, I don't see anyone giving him near the $1.2 mil he got from UCLA. He's screwed his market value all up.

I doubt it. His football future is on the line. The NIL fiasco was not, a nail in the coffin. Getting involved with a coach's firing, would make him almost undraftable.

Nico might redshirt himself or may hit the portal soon.

Thinking more about this, I think schools are going to have to wait until 5 or 6 games in before firing a coach. that 30 day window with a redshirt still on the line is going to be devastating during the season.

even if they don't transfer immediately they can sit and redshirt and pick a school later in the actual transfer portal.

either way the team is screwed.

Big Nick couldn’t have handled this worse if he had tried. Hard to imagine screwing it up worse.

UCLA is an interesting job. Big name school, even though it's a basketball school and it's in the B1G. You get B1G Network money but there is ZERO interest or fan support for the football program. I could see the Dolphins coach fitting in there but can't imagine they get any decent coaches interested.

I agree with you that UCLA is an interesting job. The right coach could be very successful there considering all the in state talent. They’ve had an up and down history throughout my football watching life. It’s a shame how little fan support that program gets. I’m sure the break up of the PAC10/12 hasn’t helped.

The institutional support is just as bad as the fan support and is an even bigger problem. Their admin doesn't really care about having a really competitive football program.

I'm not sure how much they care about basketball or other sports either. They really wanted Rick to be their basketball coach a few years ago, but when we matched their offer they backed off and hired Mick Cronin, who is not a bad coach but not who they really wanted.
