UCLA game and California Recruiting

right but what articles imply he had anything to do with it?

It doesn't matter, what matters is that the recruits buy the fact he coached them and can do the same for them.

the funny part is i've been a huge kiffin supporter on this site. all i said was he only had those guys one year. they were virtually fully developed by this time. it's ridiculous to imply kiffin isn't unproven as a head coach.

I agree he's unproven, but again he has plenty to sell to recruits.

You said the coaching staff is unproven....not the head coach, the coaching staff. and you did not indicate that Lane is unproven in a head coach capacity. All I was trying to point out is he has experience recruiting and developing great players....and i'm more than happy to agree that he is the least proven....but unproven, I completely disagree

But this staff is far from unproven. In fact I'd be willing to bet they have better resumes than anyone on Cal's staff.

Don't know if this thread is weird looking to anyone else... but you said Stanford pulls in five star guys, and they've had one since 2002.

That's not the question and not what you said. You said explain all the five star guys they get.

They've had once since 2002.

depends which recruiting service you go by. they've had multiple top-100 players. always have. personally i don't understand it, but the furd degree cannot be discounted.

For Stanford, I'd think Harbaugh helps too. Do you see him staying there long-term?

i'd put our offensive staff resumes against yours any day, but the defensive staff's resume certainly better. do you know who pete carroll tried to hire before norm chow. . . jeff tedford.

i'll bet you $100 that cal ranks higher than tenn this year and goes to a better bowl.

as for bryce brown that guy is a known cancer. pete carolll didn't even want him.

Wow, takes a set to bet a team that went 5-7, fired the old staff, brings in an entirely new staff, and has subpar talent compared to previous teams, that you will rank higher and go to a better bowl.

Also, you play in the Pac-10.

Tell you what, in the spirit of ludicrous bets, I'll bet you $100 that UF ranks higher than Cal this year and goes to a better bowl.

Bryce Brown is a cancer? Care to provide facts, or are you going by Pac-10 rumblings since he didn't go there and came to the SEC? Link?

Let me know about that wager.

only way he stays there long term is if he is a .500 coach. if they blow up this year, he'll be gone. they've actually always gotten top guys (those who can qualify). it's the depth that is the problem.

Tedford... I totally agree. However I don't see anyone on your staff of the assistants that compare to Gran or Cheaney.

It'll be tough with Cal better, USC, and if Rick gets UCLA on the right track for Harbaugh to get Stanford over the hump.

i'll bet you we finish higher than ole miss. who said cal was in florida's league?

i suggest you google bryce brown and entourage and get back to me. you don't think he'd be at sc if pete wanted him?

ron gould has produced 7 straight 1,000 yard rushers including marshawn lynch, jj arrington, and jahvid best. you have anyone with that resume? ludwig was utah's offensive coordinator last year.

Cheaney coached Brees and Orton.

Eddie Gran coached Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams, Rudi Johnson, Kenny Irons, Brandon Jacobs and Deuce McAllister... so yes.

Bryce's "entourage" is well known. I'm not sure how that makes the kid a cancer. He graduated early from HS and is a good student. Brian Butler is a leech.

The UF wager is used to show how ridiculous your wager of Cal and UT would be.

You are preseason #12, we received 2 votes.

You are experiencing your best 5 year run ever, we're experiencing one of our worst.

You had a winning record last year, we went 5-7.

You play in the Pac-10, we play in the SEC.

You return your staff intact, we have a complete new one with new schemes and systems to learn.

FWIW, I like Tedford, and think he's a great HC. I'm not knocking Cal, merely your asinine wager you offered.

My UF offer stands. :)

UF is picked to finish first and won the national championship last year. how is that less asinine?

Aside from recruiting, I think we beat UCLA worse than we beat Cal when they came to Knoxville. No bowl last year + derailing our season last year + new coach + coming to Neyland= A Neyland Nightmare.
