Governor now is refusing to comment saying this is all UAB's decision (he's technically Chair of the BOT).

Last week he was saying such a move (canceling football) would be a BOT decision and he was going to look into it.

Lot's of double talk from the BOT but they are distancing themselves. Of course everyone knows that this type of decision would need at least tacit approval from the board.

Just wondering because a suit would open up the school and BOT to discovery.

Odds are good if voted today. A month from now who knows. Faculty generally mistrust administration and this is a whopper of exactly what they fear.

Hard to imagine the BOT or Chancellor could continue to support Watts if that vote goes against him. Alumni are pissed, students are pissed, faculty are pissed.

It's clear to me that the BOT/Chancellor gave him the rope to "do what he needed to do" and now are saying it was all his call and purview.

Funny thing is, we can't do crap without BOT approval (e.g. offer a new 4 class certificate in subject "x"). There is no way that eliminating 3 athletic programs with one being the single biggest and biggest revenue generator is something that would not require BOT approval.

I'm thinking we may see a resignation prior to the NC vote but that's pure speculation on my part.

Watts has done massive damage to the University - that is grounds for dismissal.

As an update - the Prez met with us as faculty this week. Per usual he threw a bunch of folks under the bus and continued the Carr Report charade.

It did not go over well at all.

Well for those like you who are cold hearted I will explain it to you. It affected alot of lives and people with families lives and it was a cold hearted thing that was done by UAT. I hope for one they pay one day because it was all back room hand shakes that got this job done

Despite what you want to believe, no one at the University of Alabama's main campus had a single thing to do with the decision that was made. The Board of Trustees oversees the system; they are not employees or administrators in Tuscaloosa.

I mean, heck, I bet those Trustees say roll red elephants they're so out of touch with bubba ball.

Well despite no confidence votes (with either unanimous or large majority support) by the undergrads, grads and faculty plus a near no confidence statement from the alumni society the Board has come out saying they fully support Watts.

They didn't even address the controversy or the votes.

We'll see what happens next.

One potential issue on the horizon is the SACS (regional accreditation body) review. This is the entity that got involved in issues between Auburn and their board.

So basically, the Board is enthusiastically supporting someone to run the university where neither the students nor the faculty have confidence in his ability. Makes sense.
