UAB Shutting Down Football Program?

This was being discussed in the Around the NCAA forum a few weeks back. It doesn't look like UAB can disband its football program for atleast a few years.

I'm not doubting your word, but I just got a message fr one of the sport sites that said they may shut it down this week. The whole thing is confusing.

How would y'all feel about Northern Illinois as the replacement opponent?

UAB doesn't want to disband their program. It's actually Paul Bryant, Jr. and some of the other Alabama trustees that are determined to get rid of it.

That being said they're scheduled through something like 2017. So, it may be a few more years or it may be tomorrow.

This... I heard this the other day on sirius xm.. they were saying Bryant has an agenda. . And it's to shut UAB down, cause his grandaddy bear, didn't like them and they offended him at some point

Sorry if this has been posted earlier, but here's a list of the teams with non-conference holes in 2015:

•Boston College
•Miami (FL)
•East Carolina (their OOC is looking tough though)
•SMU
•Tulane
•UCF
•FIU
•Louisiana Tech
•Rice
•Southern Miss
•Bowling Green
•Western Michigan
•Air Force
•San Diego State
•UNLV
•Texas State
•UL-Lafayette

Of those schools, Boston College, Miami, ECU, Louisiana Tech, Rice, Bowling Green, Air Force, and San Diego State are the ones that don't have a game scheduled the week we're scheduled to play UAB.

Rice would be a good opponent, they're tough and will be going Bowling for the 3rd straight season.

UL-Lafayette. Solely because they're called the Ragin' Cajuns.

Apparently it's not going to be a few years before they close their doors, according to espn, it's over immediately. I would love to open up with Miami.

About the only way UAB can survive is if they move a couple of games to Bryant–Denny Stadium. The stadium in Birmingham is falling apart.

Tennessee needs to bring some of those huge UAB offensive linemen to Knoxville.

Let's play bowling green or Boston college. I'd like those match ups.

How will that affect our first game? Is everybody's schedule full or can we get a replacement game? Sorry if it's already been discussed. Merge if needed
