Ok, so not only is our roster incredibly weak. But now we have mid major coaches outcoaching Ut coaches. The only thing their coach did wrong was having that kicker keep kicking. Besides that they completely owned Ut. My point is dd is not a coach who even matches up with mid majors. He isn't going to outcoach Miles, Richt, anybody. Sorry.

Well, it's obvious to me that he should be given a pass because UAB is more talented and has more depth than we do. That's why it's completely acceptable that UAB outgained us almost 2-1.

Block, tackle and don't turn the ball over. It wouldn't hurt if the D backs looked back for the ball every once in a while either.

It's sad to say but I think UAB was more talented(at least they looked the part). Give Dooley a few years to get some players in here....I think we were down to about 60 healthy players against UAB with a few key injuries being on the OL

I have no idea why anyone would need to judge that based on the UAB game. It was clearly stated on his resume when Hamilton hired him.

Uab had more bodies, had their system in place for 4 years, knew exactly how to attack this depleted Tennessee team that was down 9 starters from a already thin lineup. When you look at it on the surface it's not surprising they almost beat us. Too many new faces in new places for it to look anything remotely like a good team right now. The one problem i think they could maybe fix is tackling. They haven't done that in years and it continues.

Which cost them the game. How is that being out coached? Sorry.

Sorry but I disagree, our coaches are working with one of the youngest offensive lines in CFB and our D-Line is extremely young and light as well. The second half of each game we have watched our OL wear down and DL become less effective....size does matter...and so does experience.

Simms played well our YOUNG WR missed some big catches that they will start making with experience.

I know many on here feel we've been saying we keep making excuses year after year, rebuilding....coaching changes....roster issues....but in the end those things are all true. This will take some time, sit back and enjoy...after all if nothing else Saturday was exciting!

Yep, as long as the other team can't tackle, we can win. :)

It may take 2 OT's, but we can win.

this

plus, in a 4 game stretch we are playing 3 top 10 teams, UAB being the outlier.

impossible for any team to play at 100% for every game.

Experience, Talent, and Depth win games!
And We dont have alot of any of it!

It was UAB. Try not to act like they were dragon slayers.

UAB recruiting ranks (out of 12 teams in C-USA, per Rivals):
2007: 11th
2008: 10th
2009: 4th
2010: 10th

They are below average talent for Conference USA.

Wow... just wow. We should have used Hamilton's wisdom and bought our way out of the game.

The problem with the original post is that you act as if no mid-major has ever upset or out-played a team from a bigger conference.

Single-game upsets and near upsets happen all the time. EVERY coach and every team has lost or nearly lost a game that on paper they shouldn't have. Don't judge ANY coach by ONE game, because by that standard no one is qualified to coach a big time program, and we will all be doing chores on Saturday rather than watching college football.

Now, if a few seasons down the road the Vols are consistently playing like they did this past Saturday, we can say we have a problem. But I'm not going to say that after four games into a coach's tenure--especially a coach who inherited the stink-pile Dooley did.

If we had BAMA talent, our coaches would more than likely look like great coaches. We don't have the talent or depth to play with many for 4 quarters. If you noticed, we have done fairly well the first two quarters.

uab looked more talented at several key positions. Even with fulmer/kiffin's bad recruiting, how can uab out-talent UT?
