Yes, but you are so much smarter.
Give the trade thing time. It will work itself out.Thank you. Yes, his economic advisors are idiots. But there are plenty of economists out there who are much smarter than me. They agree with me on trade, and would be better equipped to help with other questions that are a little more difficult than basic economics.
Trump has been calling NAFTA a very bad deal for the US, but it's not. It's been a good deal for us. Could it be better? Yes. Do I have faith in the guy who doesn't even know it's a good deal to come up with a better deal? I'm not betting on that horse.
Free Trade Has Worked. Just Look at Texas.
Kind of like we have to pass it first to see what’s in it ?
Yeah, that's the nonsense I was referencing. Even with analysis of the deal, we won't really know how good it is for years. The problem with that is it doesn't really matter how well it's working because a demagogue can just call it a "very bad deal" and people will buy that statement, despite the evidence that says otherwise.
He also has been calling on tariff free trade , now that should be right up your alley . I would assume ( dangerous I know ) that you would be or should be happy with any amount that he’s able to save the US in tariffs .
So what you are saying is we should have just left it alone until a bunch of politicians , economists and lawyers in Washington all agreed on what the best deal would be ?
I would be happy with it and I have no problem giving Trump credit, where it's due.
I'm pretty sure the only time he's ever mentioned supporting tariff-free trade was when he proposed it to the EU. He knows they won't accept it and he gets to claim he wanted free trade. I'm going to go ahead and say that the Trump who has been blasting trade for 2 years is the real Trump, and the Trump who made that offer is not the real Trump.
Glad to hear this. Still wish he'd started out negotiating, rather than threatening. Wasn't necessary, at least with our allies.
