looks like they have only really worked out the automotive aspects. hopefully Canada rejoins the table.

I think Mexico was the big sticking point. I believe I saw Canada's PM say they would jump in the talks once the issues between Mexico and US were resolved.

I am not a Trump fan, but settling down the trade wars is good news.

Agree , I think his biggest mistake was trying to take everyone on at once . I believe if he had went Mexico , Canada , EU ... then China things would have gone much smoother

Agreed. I think most of us red hats just asked to give him a chance is all. I believe NAFTA as it stood was dated. Trump chose to take it on. So let him have a crack at it. And if this plays out it’s a bigly feather in his hat.

I have to admit, the two major achievements he would make that are significant are getting us out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership and renegotiating NAFTA.

You mean the government that hasn’t touched NAFTA in years ? You may have missed it but there’s a new guy in town and he seems different somehow . Don’t lump him in with “ government “ because when he gets these nafta deals done there’s going to be some credit to give out to him .

I'm interested to see how this plays out. My guess is that different interests will have different interpretations of a new agreement, but in my opinion, GETTING a new agreement was important - and if we get a new agreement I'll assume its palatable for everyone. Life is better when you play nice with your neighbors.

Trump has been calling NAFTA a very bad deal for the US, but it's not. It's been a good deal for us. Could it be better? Yes. Do I have faith in the guy who doesn't even know it's a good deal to come up with a better deal? I'm not betting on that horse.

Free Trade Has Worked. Just Look at Texas.

Glad to hear this. Still wish he'd started out negotiating, rather than threatening. Wasn't necessary, at least with our allies.
