Tyson Helton Offense

He runs a multiple offense. Both Spread and Pro-Style elements
Maybe he can throw some triple option in there and really have everybody verklempt.

We'll know definitely here shortly. I thought CJP was still in on Freeze. That may fell through.

USC is 9th in total yards. Not sure why people feel the need to take a shot at Tee or the new OC based on those results, but we are site full of idiots so I guess that explains it.

15th actually. 24th in scoring, which matches our 2016 and 2015 totals.

So Helton is now garbage because USC underachieved and did not run the ball well. Yet he was the passing game guy. But we have people not only wanting Tee as the OC, but HC as well, and he actually called those plays that underachieved. Makes sense Tee homers

Watched a few USC games this year and I was frankly, a little underwhelmed with their offense (One reason why I wasn't high on Tee at all). USC has the probable #1 draft pick at QB and has the most talent of any team in the Pac 10 by a substantial margin.

Tee doesn't call plays the HC does, it his offense

Clueless........................this thread is priceless. :eek:lol:

What plays are we going to run???? :eek:lol: :eek:lol:

It is my hopes that this staff UNLIKE the last one will run something that matches the skill set of the players they have inherited on the field.
Because that is what intelligent Coaches do. ie why would I continually run read-option with a QB that cant run the ball....

Hopefully the new staff will be smart enough to inquire with the Coaching Minds on this site for proper guidance and input!!

Conf usa/Sun belt spread offense. Lack of power running game hurt USC. They have the best qb in the country and loaded full of talent and underachieved offensively.

He needs to be qb coach and they must hire an elite offensive coordinator.

Usc had the 7th hardest ranked schedule and lost 2 games not bad.

Any offense where we don't throw 20 screen passes and avoid the middle of the field like the Bubonic Plague suits me.

I watched WKU in a couple games when he was there. Looks closer to what Baylor did under Briles. Tee was USC’s OC and 100% in charge of game planning so we didn’t see a Helton offense out there.

I'd agree, but this wasn't his offense either. I hope he takes more from Brohm than Tee. WKU was putting up 44+ when he was there learning under Brohm.

You are correct. The offensive schemes will not work in the SEC. Play for championships here and nothing more.
Run the football and play great defense.

Relying on the run game immensely can make a team easier to beat. Obviously, it's not easy beating Alabama but the reason they are beatable is because Hurts isn't a pure passer. You take Mayfield and put him on Alabama and it would be a perfect season.

Who is on first again?
This is all redundant until Pruitt gets everyone/everything into place.

I think CJP understands that. I wouldn't be surprised to see our team mirroring Alabama, scheme wise. We don't have all the pieces Alabama does, so I'm sure there will be some wrinkles that play to the strengths of our offensive players. I would expect to see a run first offense to set up manageable 3rd downs, a physical, stingy defense like legacy UT football, and I think we'll see the good, if not great recruits start to really consider UT again.

USC's offense is Clay Helton's offense, Tee just runs what his boss has put into place. There's been questions as to how much say Tee really has in the offense. It's 100% Clay Helton's offense and my guess would be he has very little say in the overall scheme and plays that get called. Clay was doing his absolute best to get Tee hired away from USC but his recruiting is far superior to his coaching and player development. But even then USC recruits itself and can make coach's look really great at recruiting. A coach would really have to suck at recruiting to not be a successful recruiter there. JP definitely pulled the better Coach and player developer in Tyson Helton.

This is a lie

No it is not. Tee may call some of the plays but the Offense is 100% Helton's. I don't know how much leeway Tee has in playcalling but I guarantee very little gets called without it going through Clay first. Tee has very little of his handprints on USC's offense. It's Helton's offense from top to bottom.

Absolutely. Hurts isn't going to beat you with his arm. If Ala struggles to run the ball like they did vs AU, LSU and Fla St they become very beatable. Hurts hasn't improved his passing at all and it could be what gets them beat against Clemson. Clemson has the best front 7 in college football and if they make you one dimensional it's over with.Clemson could very well do like AU did but could give them more than a 12 pt a$$ beating. Not saying it will happen but if Hurts struggles passing against them I could see them giving Saban his biggest butt kicking since being in Tuscaloosa. Clemson should have some offensive success like they did the last 2 times they played . Wouldn't shock me next year at all if the kid from Hawaii takes over as their QB, especially if Hurts doesn't get better as a passer. That kid from Hawaii would start for most teams.
