Type of coach AD looking for revealed

After Currie almost hired Schiano, it gives us insight into the TYPE of hire he is looking for. (Just style alone) He is looking for a tough, no nonsense, my way or the highway coach. Looking for discipline almost like a military approach. He’s not concerned with likeability. The problem is: We need an exciting offense and someone who’s likeable for recruiting and FUN to play for.

Our players under Butch were too uptight and needed a coach to help them to relax, have swagger/confidence, and enjoy playing the game.

I honestly don't think "sCURRvIE" put that much thought into the process. It was his buddy, Big $ wanted him too, it was done before he ever had Presser....

"The funny thing is Schiano most likely was the best coach you were going to find. He can't help the fact he worked at Penn State in the early 90's. To suggest he knew anything about what was going on at that time is ridiculous. If he did witness that going on, he just might have walked in the shower and ripped Sandusky's pecker off and kicked his butt. His Rutgers time was great. He turned a losing program into a winner the last 7 years he was there after he got his players and rebuilt the culture."

So tired of hearing this crap. If he really is all that and a bag of chips coach why aren't the other schools with coaching vacancies lined up to hire him? Doesn't look like he's on anybody else list and he shouldn't have been on ours.

If Tee got coordinator support he will do a good job. Killer on recruiting and vocal and positive for VFLs with offensive grasp.

This fact is conviently ignored by everyone from radio, tv, and newspapers, along with the regular folk like us.

I know our program is in the tank. I know it has fallen from national prominence, but that doesn't mean I am delusional in thinking the potential is there and we can easily rebound if operations were ran the right way.

Competence, common sense, and decisive decisions aren't hard.

One of the talking heads mentioned changes in the big east during schiano time. Such as:

The ACC added three members from the Big East Conference during the 2005 cycle of conference realignment: Miami and Virginia Tech joined on July 1, 2004, and Boston College joined on July 1, 2005, as the league's twelfth member and the first from New England or anywhere in the Northeastern US.

Interesting that schianos first winning season during his time at Rutgers was, wait for it, ..... 2005. He went 7-5. Hmmmmm. Nice turn around? Smells more like addition by subtraction.

Dude got his @ss kicked by Butch Jones at Cincinnati. He’s Al Golden without the bow tie and a crew cut.

Make no mistake, shamoo was Haslam's guy, not Currie's.. Currie can't hire anyone without Haslam's approval and there in lies the REAL problem. As long as it remains this way, UT will NOT get a top flight coach..

Is it time for a revolution?:)

Schiano will be perfect for the Razorbacks as you are used to having tier 2 coaches. We may not hit a home run but I am so glad we did not go with The Sciano Man. Sing us a song Schiano man sing us a song tonight. Because Razorbacks are in the mood for your melody...

I’m not a fan of this coaching style but it can work. 2 years ago a 5* recruit from Alabama was asked about the main difference between his top 2 choices, Bama and Auburn. He said Bama is run like a business and Saban is the CEO. Rules are put in place about everything and if a player follows them he will earn playing time, if not then he will be shown the door. He then said Auburn is more like a family and Malzhan is a father figure, stern but understanding. Players play hard because they don’t want to let him or the other guys down. Playing time has more to do with how the coaches feel you’ll play than following a set path. Players can get away with more, but once trust is lost it’s almost impossible to earn back.

As we saw on Saturday both coaching styles work. UT tried the hard nosed discipline with Butch after the family atmosphere with Dooley and the loose and free approach of Kiffin. Find a good coach and everything else will fall into place.
