If you really need attention that bad maybe just go streaking down Cumberland Ave. Or go stand on a ledge.

Also, and I'm clearly not on board with the Tyndall hire, but I think it's best that we stop comparing him to Pearl. No one is going to win from that. Just my honest opinion. Time to move on.

I'm not either, if he can get this team in the discussion for the tournament next season then I may start to believe. As of now the hire in my opinion is 3 on a scale of 1-10. Not surprising however seeing that's how UT likes to hire.

Other forums has room also. The coach has been in Ktown less than 24 hours and we have crap like this comparing him to Pearl. Take your crap elsewhere. It's obvious nobody here wants to listen to it.

Agree

My ignore list continues to grow.

Having a yankee coach is worse than having an arab or communist even. Hart has hired 2 yankees it is an embarrassing thing. We should bring in a real southerner next time

It's as if none of the yahoos in charge remember the war of northern aggression

The fact y'all think it's cute that he said "Go Vals" is truly a sad commentary on where this university and its fanbase is at. We are now such a lower life form that even our new caoch can't pronounce stuff right (Neyland Coliseum?).

i sure hope so or basketball at tennessee will become irrelevant. also it ain't hard to be greater than bruce pearl, just don't be a liar, violate ncca rules and make it to the elite 8 in the ncaa tournament. and get some fans to fill in seats. i hope Donnie can do it.

Comparing coaches is natural and happens all the time. We compare current coaches to past coaches and we compare our current coaches to their peers at other schools. If we're completely sure that CDT will be better than Pearl then no one should mind the comparison. If you do mind it suggests insecurity. Go Vols!

Or maybe they remember it quite clearly: E. Tennessee actually fought for the Union, had the first paper in the entire US (North or South dedicated solely to abolition), was considered the freest soil in the ENTIRE country to speak of abolition, and tried to secede from the rest of the state after it voted to secede. East, Tennesseans accompanied Sherman on his march.

That was because we hated the bulldogs then as we do now.

People that that say the Pearl lovers need to get over him, well the Pearl haters need to get over him too.

Riiiiiiiiiight, because the Fulmer and Kiffin/Dooley/Jones conversations ended so peacefully and quickly and nobody would ever type "Fulmer > Jones" would they??

:eek:lol:

reference: Fulmer >>> Jones
Fact:
Fulmer had a .743 winning percentage
Jones has a .618 winning percentage

There's a difference between looking at statistical differences than constantly bringing up the lying episode and such. All these Pearl haters constantly complaining about people bringing up Pearl when the haters bring him up 90% of the time. Either they need to quit bringing him up or stfu when others do. JMO.

Partially true. The truth is that we had divided loyalties, mostly with the North . In the courthouse square here in the middle of Greeneville, we have a monument to Union soldiers, and a monument to Gen. John Hunt Morgan, a Confederate General, hunted down and killed here in town.

Also, the pro-Union sympathizers set fire to the Confederate controlled Lick Creek Bridge in Greene County, and were tried , convicted, and 2 were hanged here in Greeneville. Some thought that Parson Brownlow, an abolitionist newspaperman from Knoxville was involved with the bridge burners. So, we were under Confederate occupation by Gen. Felix Zollicoffer, but had residents fighting on both sides.

At this point, Bruce's résumé is much stronger than Donnie's, but only time will tell whether Tyndall is >, <, or = Pearl. Now that they're in direct competition with each other in the same conference, the future comparisons and value judgements will be easier to make.

My knowledge of Pearl is certainly inferior to almost all posters on this board, But I always regarded him as an extremely good game time coach. He may be better than Donnie when the game is on. But I would expect Donnie to recruit as well (although the rating services may not give as many stars or you may wonder what Tyndall sees in a prospect that didn't do well at UK or wherever), and do a better job of putting together a game plan and a better job of getting the team focused together on a single vision. I expect Donnie to have the Vols in the NCAA in two years at worst. I say again that USM was NCAA qualified both the last two years--much higher RPI than numerous teams in the dance.
