I think he said he will go if he is projected as a first rounder, and I think that he probably will be.

“It’s been my dream; if I’m able to do it, I might, but I’m not sure,’’ Tyler Smith said. “If my family needs the money, and I’m sure they do … that’s what it will come down to. I want to be a first-rounder. If I’m not, it’s not even worth a look for me.’’

Tyler is 21 years old. I wish him well.

I think if he stayed he would increase his draft stock drastically because he will be our main guy and will be able to show off his scoring ability even more. He can also work on his outside shot. Also with the likes of Chism, Crews, Prince, Ramar, Williams, Tabb, and Tatum the cupboard isn't bare and another deep tourney run can be made.

I accidently said no, thinking it was will he leave this year.

The way he played in this tournament will resonate in the minds of scouts. He was manhandled by the NBA prospects of Louisville and had 7 turnovers against a putrid post team in Butler.

He scored 20 points 4 times this whole season. Now say what you will about the weapons we had, but Lofton and JaJuan scored 20 just as much if not more than Tyler.

He's got great skills and instincts yes, but he's a late first rounder and needs to improve a lot before he's ready to play in the NBA.

But I add, if he is in the first round and he needs the money, then go. I will definitely root for him and he was a great player for us this year. A great guy that I've spoken with a lot, I have nothing but respect for him.

I was just being objective, all other circumstances aside.

I really hope he is able to get first round status and leave this year. It is what would be best for his family and him. I'd love to watch him at UT another year, but he has bigger priorities.

He won't be a first rounder, if we had beaten Louisville and or North Carolina then he would be, but I don't see a team taking him in the first round

He should be 15-20. He should go. He could also be top 5 next season. He's got a family to take care of though and that's his first priority. I've appreciated what Tyler has brought this season and it's in his best interest to go. It's too big of a risk to stay and get injured

Whatever he decides to do, I wish him the best. He's given all of us a lot of good memories this basketball season. :good!:

I think he stays to justify the Tatoo on his belly. Hard to have something like that for life and only play there for one year. Needs to stay for two so they we will not sue him for copyright violations.

I just think that there are 20-30 guys out there that would be picked ahead of him, especially when you throw in the other guys who are leaving early and the international players. I think he is borderline first round. That being said, what he might do is declare without hiring an agent and see what happens.

It's only called a belly if you're under 5 or over 30. :p

Alot of people were posting here the past week comparing Tyler Smith to Earl Clark as to who is the better player and NBA prospect... Just wondering what everyone thinks now that they have actually seen Clark play... IIRC, most posters here said that Smith was by far the better player...

Personally, I think Smith is a great player, but I think Clark has much greater upside... He is bigger, stronger, and longer...

Both Clark and Smith played 28 mins last night:

Clark - 17 pts (7-10), 12 rebs, 4 blocks
Smith - 11 pts (3-9), 4 rebs, 0 blocks

I think both players would be better served to come back next year to college; they would be lottery picks in next years' draft...

Your thoughts...???

If you think my post was a comment about you, you missed the point.

I must have missed something. But you never know. If you are the girl in the picture then lets talk about it in detail. If not then nevermind. Its still a belly regardless.

His stomach doesn't say "university of tennessee"...just "tennessee".

I was saying Tyler Smith doesn't have a "belly" - it's abs, six-pack, midsection, etc...

When I hear "belly", I think of a round mound on little kids and old farts. i.e., I have a "belly" gained through many cold beers.

I get the picture. Yes he has a stomach but belly makes me feel better. He needs to stayed because we need a player like him on the court with presence. A Fear this type character.
