This kid is GOOD. Really gets off the ball quick. I Have watched him play since little league and the kid has a non stop motor. I know I wii take some heat from some of you Star gazers but the kid is legit. He will have some good offers soon.
From a recent NUC camp:
Tyler Powell, Cosby, VA (2014)
Tyler Powell - Highlight Videos, Schedule & Roster - Hudl
Official Size: 6-4, 250
Assets: Powell has absolutely no bad body weight as he is built like a pristine Greek sculpture from the Hellenistic period. His frame will easily hold another 20 to 30 pounds of muscle mass which will allow him to play either strong side defensive end or defensive tackle. His forte is coming off the ball before the offensive lineman can get back into their pass set. I really like the way he uses his hands to keep offensive lineman off his body. Powell really reminds me of Utah freshman defensive lineman Hunter Dimick. For his strong performance he earned DL MVP.
Development: He took a lot of his one-on-one reps at defensive tackle. He will need to add at least 40-pounds to play that position at the DI level. His most natural position based on his skill set will be as a strong side defensive end. I think more DI offers will come his way if he can show off his pass rushing skills and fire in front of college coaches. He should not worry about whether the instate BCS schools are interested because some major DI college will like his skill set.
Offers: James Madison, Old Dominion, Temple, William & Mary
