Tyler Byrd 23 mph?!?!

JRM is the most impressive on that list IMO...but great to see that we really do have speed at every position. Shoop has really been pushing pursuit downfield...it's all happening

Best thing about the list is the 3 newcomers at the top. Tyler Byrd, Nigel Warrior, and Jonathan Kongbo should all make huge impacts.

By the end of the season, I expect Byrd to be the starting slot receiver (sorry J. Smith), Kongbo to be the starting DE opposite Barnett (sorry Vereen), and Warrior to be that 3rd safety like TKjr the last 2 years.

Love the talent on this team.

And I expected you to spontaneously combust months ago but god works in mysterious ways...

We have some good talent.

Josh Smith ain't going nowhere. And it doesn't matter because of the way we rotate.

Vereens not going anywhere either. Kongbos impact will be felt inside. Hes a DT... they just haven't made it official yet.

Warrior could indeed be the 3rd safety...

I don't think he'll be an official "DT". Like it's been talked about before he'll probably see the inside every now and then. But he is one of the fastest if not the fastest DE we have, and has the same dimensions as JJ Watt. I don't think Shoop plans on switching that role any time soon.

I was bored and wanted to see who was generating the most momentum. I used the weights listed on the roster to calculate the mass, as well as the mph listing shown in the picture with the original post. There was a discrepancy between what I have been reading. Kongbo was listed at 270 which I read he was at 280 on the board or in an article one. KMac was listed at 325 which I read he was 315 now. So I calculated the two of theirs at the different weights. Anyways, I'm not going to take the time to list all of them, but here are the top 10:

KMac at 325: 1074.5 kg•m/s
Kongbo at 280: 1045.2 kg•m/s
KMac at 315: 1041.7 kg•m/s
Kongbo at 270: 1008.2 kg•m/s
JRM at 230: 988.8 kg•m/s
Hurd at 240: 987.7 kg•m/s
Kirkland at 230: 937.7 kg•m/s
Byrd at 195: 937.2 kg•m/s
Lewis at 256: 918.4 kg•m/s
Barnett at 265: 918.3 kg•m/s

Kind of funny, the head coach of the team George Watts always gave me hell about it. He ran for UT in the late 70s, then held a coaching position with them up until he left the program. Bet me that if he could run a mile in under 10 minutes (at this point in his life he had scoliosis, was 60 years old and hadn't run in years) then I had to buzz it. 9 minutes and 20 seconds later, a teammate had run to his dorm to get clippers and I left Tom Black Track with a buzz that day.

Haha
Cool story man!

Look for Byrd to get jet sweeps and some carries out of the backfield on misdirection plays

You have to think they'll try it a few times and then fake it for a big gain at some point.

He's the hero VN deserves, but not the one it needs right now. I approve of your work sir. :salute:

On vol football snapchat they have posted the speed of people in the 20 mph club, guess who tops the list!

Those are impressive numbers to me. On that note, I wouldn't want an angry Mt McKenzie or King Kongbo running towards me at 16 mph 😳

Polar bear are fast as hell bro they run at least 40 mph thats two times faster than Usain Bolt.

It would be so very nice to have someone on offense that was a threat to take it to the house every time they touched the ball

Kamara would have to be considered a threat, but I'm not so sure he has the breakaway speed, like say Byrd.....we'll know for sure in about 3 weeks quite possibly

Evan Berry will probably get a few offensive touches this season...he gone...:wavey:

GO VOLS!

Can you imagine Kongbo hitting you at 18 mph?

Statements like this tell me some of you are taking this way too seriously. In the few steps he will take before hitting someone, do you really think he will reach 18 mph?

This is a fun measurable for the players and coaches, but c'mon! The only time it might have some pertinence would be if Tyler Byrd gets through the secondary and hits his stride. Unlikely many could ever catch him from behind without a perfect angle.
