Tyler Bray to Possibly Have Surgery...

He hasn't yet. But if he can just manage a game and not make mistakes, maybe our running game can get going and bail him out.

Simms will be fine. There is a reason he's the #2 QB at UT. Can he throw the ball down field like Bray. Nope. But Chaney will adjust the game(s) to Simms strength using Lane - Smith - Young - Poole - Rogers - Rivera to make the 3rd down conversions. We played LSU okay for a half, a darn good half. But LSU is way above and beyond our talent at this point. And we will more than likely get trunked against 'bama. But from then on out, we have the talent and heart to thump everybody but Arky. SC is not playing good ball. Even with Lattimore (39 yards againt MS), SC is just not on. We can and should beat them. Arky, IMO, will be the game that determines which bowl game we get to.

We burn a year for a couple of cupcake wins in a meaningless season, and then he sits out the next 2 seasons behind Bray. Then he only gets one meaningful year to play..

you think Bray stays for his senior season?

really?

I hope you're right, but I doubt it.

p.s. NO SEASON IS MEANINGLESS

Every win is important to the program. So please...stop it with the crap about throwing the season away.

Worley will supplant Simms in the USC game and either win or have a great game causing a qb controversy for the next 2 years. Just a wish.

Worley may be better than Simms but not bray! I'm fine with out a qb controversy. The last time we played two QBs throughout the season we sucked

If we need Worley, use him and don't worry about the redshirt. He might not be as good as Peterman or some other recruit. You never know. I would only worry about saving him if I thought he was a special talent and if he's that good, he will leave early anyway. Use 'em if you need 'em.

That's the exact opposite of logic...you generally only play a true freshman IF he's a special talent...

You're what?

Or if he's better than the schlub you currently have playing...

The bottom line is: Play the best available man you have. The TEAM is more important than any single player.

Which he's not. But tell me again how he's automatically leaving early for the NFL if he ever starts. That happens to our QBs so often, right?

The key word in my post was if we NEED him (Worley). If you have to burn it, you burn it. We may have someone better coming in anyway. You play to win now! If you don't, you're cheating all the guys that are currently playing.

I wasn't speaking to redshirting in general. Yes you play a special player as a freshman but only if he is the only special talent at that position. We already have a special player at QB with Bray. Now back to the Worley discussion. The key word in my post was if we NEED him (Worley). If you have to burn it, you burn it. We may have someone better coming in anyway. You play to win now! If you don't, you're cheating all the guys that are currently playing.
No you are not. The only game left on our schedule whose outcome would be in question is USC.. any other game we win/lose no matter what QB on our roster starts. I would go so far as to say We would have the same record at this point whether Simms or Bray started, all else being equal.

Anyone thinking Worley is, at this point, a better option than Simms has not caught the memo on the fact Dooley has never shown an reluctance to playing the best players no matter who they are. Notice how many true freshmen played/started both this year and last? Also look at how many signees from this recent recruiting class have gotten on the field as soon as they caught up to the game plan.

It is very interesting that Worley is ahead of Nance on the depth chart but more interesting that he is behind Simms because if he was even close you list him as the backup for morale purposes. Bumping Simms down to third string does nothing it is his Sr. year and he can't bounce but if Worley is competing close in practice there is a chance he see's that and the next guy coming in as a sign to bounce. The fact that Simms has been number 2 since day 1 just says to me Worley ain't ready.

Actually the fact no one in the media has really mentioned the guys name all year tells me he ain't ready. They were talking about Bray Week in week out from spring practice on last year. From the time he stepped on campus not a single media personality has gotten a hard on for him and that is telling because those guys are know to have problems with being premies.

Exactly.

If I were on a team and found out that the coach was holding back a better quarterback to 'save him for next year', I would go enroll somewhere else, somewhere where the coach is playing to win.

BTW,

Simms sucks. So if thats you, matt, go practice.

Actually the fact no one in the media has really mentioned the guys name all year tells me he ain't ready. .

Actually the fact that you would make that judgement based on such an idiotic metric tells me that you ain't quite ready to leave the porch.

Your assuming Matt is better, even though we've yet to see what Worley has to offer in a game. Dumb.

Reminds me of last year when people said that certain Freshman wasn't better than Simms...

That's ridiculous. Everyone knew that bray was better than Simms. We just knew he wasn't ready early in the year.
