Best I remember, Clowney came around the end, reached over his blocker and knocked the ball out of Bray's hand. But, either way, the guy never exhibited much in the way of leadership ability while at UT. Hope he gets his chance and does big things in the NFL, but there are no fond memories of him nor his time at UT.

Difference being, that was one time Dobbs didn't lead his team to a victory in the 2nd half of a game. There were many instances where he led successful comebacks. Plus, he was a high character, tough competitor who got the most out of his ability and his teammates. Bray had a strong arm.

Bray won't be the backup for very long, I'm afraid. NFL teams are so insecure about QBs that they reach terribly every year. This was supposed to be a pretty meh--below average--QB class--and yet 3 have been picked in the top 12! Teams always desperately rolling the dice.

I might get flamed for this, but I don't think Mahomes will beat Bray. Who knows, maybe I'm dead wrong, but I don't see him fitting into a pro style offense the same way a 6'6" strong armed guy with a 4 year leg up on the playbook fits into that offense.

Blah blah blah mobility. Bray's had the odds stacked against him before in KC. He's outlasted both Aaron Murray and Kevin Hogan who were drafted in consecutive years to supplant him and he's outlasted Chase Daniel who has been in the league for almost a decade.

I think he will be okay. Patrick Mahomes is overrated IMO.

No more than you are being ridiculous about Bray; he played for freakin' Dooley with some of the worst defenses in UT history and you criticize one of the few players that didn't suck. He wasn't even close to why UT didn't win.

Dobbs also had much better overall talent around him and didn't play for a complete idiot like Dooley.

I agree with all said above. The biggest thing Bray will have going against him now is the investment made into Mahomes. A top 10 pick no matter what his intangibles are or how he fits into the system will have a free ticket to the front of the line. No franchise is going to waste a top 10 pick on a guy who is going to be 3rd on the depth chart, optically that would be an unwise investment.

Doesn't matter. Mahomes is where the organizations money is. They have several million reasons why Mahomes HAS to be the guy or it makes the suits look like tards. Bray is done in KC.

Yes, it would seem the writing is on the wall; NFL= Not For Long. KC moving up to draft Mahomes means Bray goes from being considered No. 2 QB this season to maybe watching injury reports in September....when he isn't selling used cars or bagging groceries.

Think again. Bray's time there means he gets a salary boost soon per NFLPA rules. That also means he is more of a salary cap burden. Mahomes may be overrated, but he is also a 1st round selection and will be on the 65 man roster. Bray just became very disposable.

I think they keep Bray and cut Smith next year. Stave is the expendable one here IMO. They go into the 2018 season with Mahommes starting and Bray as backup IMO. They will save 17M in cap by cutting Smith in 2018.
