More vols gettings some love. Stewart Mandel (who last year picked us to win 4 games and this year to win 6) had some nice things to say in this article.

'As they showed last week while laughing in the face of my Upset Special pick, Vols quarterback Tyler Bray and his receivers are a handful to defend, and Tauren Poole is a decent back.'

I hope all this love doesn't go to their heads.

Brock Osweiler, rising QBs could make 2011 Year of Shootout - Stewart Mandel - SI.com

ps the big picture of bray is on the front of SI's ncaa football page

no curse in college man. That's for pros. College is opposite!

Now for reality, I am glad the media is at least monitoring the situation. After UT beats Florida, then the real attention will start. At that point, we see how the young Vols handle some success.

Here's a new rule for sports writers: If you vote Notre Dame into the Top 25, you are automatically reassigned to cover bowling. If you pick Notre Dame to go to a BCS bowl, you get tasered and thrown out the window.

IMO the best part of the whole article was this gem under comments..

Somebody should tell Kiffin that Tennessee is capable of generating press coverage without him making us look like a bunch of morons.

I really wish people would stop saying this.

oh so you want them to become arrogant and have their play suffer because of it? i would rather them take the mentality of the underdog so they keep working hard week in and week out.

SI.com is online. Not magazine. Do I really need to explain it to you?

The SI jinx only applies to the print magazine cover. Do I really need to explain that to you?

You thought it applied to every athlete that has ever been on their website? Well that would include...everyone.

I, for one, am tired of playing the underdog role. We have been doing it for too long already. I am ready for us to be heavy favorites and then go out and beat the s'not out of them like we were expected to and then call out, "next one up, bring it."

The only things cursed in sports are the cubs, and Dale jr. Nevermind, forget Dale jr, he just sucks.

No im saying that because im tired of hearing it said. The coaches are gonna make sure it doesn't happen and everything will be fine.

Sad part is, that quote is word for word plagiarized from a recent ESPN article I read. I want to think it was either on Grantland or "Notre Dame needs to lower expectations" on the front page of the main site.

I had to stop listening to Ivan Maisel and Beano cook this week, they were STILL talking about Notre dame. I mean, just yesterday they spent a half friggin hour talking about ND.

It's beano. What do you expect? Half the sports media only worries about nd and the big ten because they have the most alumni, the biggest collective following, the most money and the east coast media market as much as college football can get.
