Tyler Bray: 34-41 405yds 4tds (merged)

Manning was beatable by one team. You haveno idea what you are talking about. Manning lost one home game from his sophomore to senior season and that was by less than a touchdown against the National champs. We remember the losses because you can count them on one hand.

My friend, I have farted out more football knowledge in a week, than you have gained in your entire life. Having played at the collegiate level, I do know a thing or two about the game.

Then why havent most of our QBs put up numbers like his in these "type" of games.

Do I expect 400 against UF, no.

This is a great point that I think gets lost in most discussions. It's not like we haven't played bad defenses every year. You still have to make the throws, and for the most part, we haven't had anybody to toss it like that since 97, even against lousy teams.

Putting the numbers aside and forgetting the competition, it is pretty clear that Bray has something special about him.

Exactly, I get he is not playing Bama. However, he is tearing it up.

"I'm concerned that his completion percentage will hurt us."

I think I read that a few times on here during camp...

He has everything you want in a QB. He is miles better than he was last year.

For the he needs to go up against better competition crowd, how come other QBs don't put up these kind of numbers against cupcake teams?

Just in the SEC:

Tyler Bray
vs. Montana: 17-24, 293 yards, 3 TD
vs. Cincinnati: 34-41, 405 yards, 4 TD
Total: 51-65, 78.4%, 698 yards, 7 TD

Tyler Wilson:
vs. Missouri State: 18-24, 260 yards, 2 TD
vs. New Mexico: 20-29, 268 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
Total: 38-63, 60.3%, 528 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT

John Brantley:
vs. FAU: 21-30, 229 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT
vs. UAB: 12-19, 195 yards
Total: 33-49, 67.3%, 1 TD, 2 INT

And Cincy is definitely better than any of those other teams. Bottom line is that we have a special, special QB.

Thank you.

Congrats to Bray and UT. I thought you guys were delusional based on only last year's stats, but it is clear that he and those two receivers are very good.

I said months ago that if Milton could step up and be an SEC caliber WR, that this offense would be smoking hot and that we would take the SEC East this year. Got a lot of ridicule for saying that and for saying I wouldn't trade Bray for any QB in the country, except maybe Andrew Luck.
Bray had a better day than Mr. Luck and against a much tougher opponent. Auburn snuck up on everyone last year, and I feel like it's our turn to shake things up in the SEC this year. Doesn't yet look like Milton is going to pan out, and that is a shame. Having to face 3 large WR's is a Maalox commercial in the making.

He's definitely doing stuff Manning wasn't at the same age. I don't think at all that Manning isn't better... is Chaney's passing offense just that much better than Cutcliffe's?

You pose an intriguing question regarding Chaney’s scheme vs. Cutcliffe’s, one for which I don’t have the answer. However, a couple of additional points come to mind in comparing Bray’s achievements thus far vs. Peyton’s. Peyton has always demonstrated an ability for taking mediocre/good receivers and getting tremendous statistical productivity out of them. On the whole, he was surrounded by a superior supporting cast compared to what Tyler currently has at his disposal. Nevertheless, I believe that time will eventually prove that Justin Hunter and Da’Rick Rogers are physically far more talented receivers than Joey Kent and Marcus Nash. Peyton, on the other hand, had much better running backs and, except for 1996, a clearly superior offensive line, so he wasn’t forced to take as much on his shoulders as Bray is right now. It will be very interesting to see if Bray develops that “cool-as-ice” road persona that Clausen possessed. That would be the best of all possible scenarios given his obvious physical talents.

I think we can't run the ball and have a qb that can sling it so the coaches are turning him loose.
