Ty Chandler in the transfer portal

Or run more 2 back sets.

Chaney must’ve died. He said something at the beginning of the year about if both weren’t on the field to look up in the press box because he probably died.

It's not as though all these guys just bailed for out of dislike of Pruitt--some probably did, some didn't.

I didn't look up all the transfers but off the top of my head, JG is leaving (y'all were celebrating that), Shrout (better chance to play at Colorado), Kivon Bennett (arrest issues), Pope (critical as he walked out) Brandon Johnson (classy exit), Jordan Allen (who rarely, if ever played),Deondre Johnson (home to Miami), a LB named Ethan something that I don't recall.

All I'm saying is that those who want tp portray all 16 departures as a failure of CJP ought to think a bit deeper.

I don’t look at it as a failing, most of these players have their own reasons, we’ll never know.

However 16 is a high number per other SEC schools. Vandy, you would expect turnover with a new coach. MSU, it’s the end of Leach’s first season. He lost two QB’s but two have transferred in. Again you would expect this at the end of year one.

We are in year three. Now the “everyone gets a free year” thing due to COVID-19, definitely plays a part. I’m not blaming the players or the Coach(es).

I am saying it’s unusual and at the very least speaks to the lack of stability real, or perceived.

GBO!!!

Evans, Brown, Wright, Gray, Whitehead, Beckwith, Small, Higgins...Am I forgetting anyone?

Surely Beckwith isn't a RB going forward is he? Seems like he is better suited for other positions considering how deep our RB group is.

Appreciate what Ty did in his years here, but I'm not gonna sweat losing this one. Only thing we're losing is experience. The RB group is super deep and very talented.

I disagree with a lot of the other posters here. Sure we have a lot of talent at rb, but when you have an in state senior leader transferring out, it seems like a sign of some deeper issues going on.

Or maybe he could just see the writing on the wall that he was going to get passed up and couldn’t handle the competition?

In a normal year, Ty is a senior and played his last game against Texas AM. I would assume that most of us (certainly myself) would not be fretting at the fact that Ty has graduated and will not be back. He’s a fine back but we have a deep RB room with Gray clearly more talented and Smalls looks like he brings more to the table too. Throw in the Juco back and Brown who looks like a legit, big SEC back, no one is losing sleep over losing Ty. There is plenty to be concerned about with Pruitt and the current state of the program, but a senior that has graduated and is looking for more playing time as a graduate player at a different school is not one to be worried about or to “tear cloth over”. Good luck to Ty tho! He would very well as a feature back at a non power five school.

What I think of when fans are disappointed about a player leaving:

Next year, people will blame the plethora of transfers for the lack of production on the field, even though they were blaming "Butch's recruits" for the lack of production these last three seasons.
I think it's good to start getting Butch's recruit's out of here.

I'm not sure of the exact number of our players that has hit the transfer portal, but I'm sure we didn't want them anyway.
Underrated Post.
This should be nominated for the “Best Post of the Month” award.

It’s hard to even say right now with all the Seniors taking advantage of the extra year. Situations like Chandler are transfers but almost deserve their own category.

My understanding is Seniors that remain don’t count toward the 85 scholarships but if they transfer they do at the new school. It’s a strange set up all around.

Anybody that’s had a coaching change in the last 2-3 years is bound to run up a high transfer number.

How many transfers can we legitimately even take? With the Covid rules allowing players like Ty and JG an extra 5th season of play, it seems like the transfers would be minimized. Figured we'd see many not return for 2nd Sr. seasons anyway.

The young man did his best and I do not recall him showing up in the papers for acts of trouble. He spent four years on The Hill and was a class act. I wish him nothing but the very best life has to offer.

Very thankful for Mr. Chandler giving his all here.

Good luck to Ty. I had such high Hope's for him when we recruited him. He just never lived up to his potential.
