Demps is a fun comparison. He ran a 10.37 in the Florida state T&F finals his senior year, I think. Then ran a 10.25 at AAU Junior Olympics. That was the 2nd fastest time in state history. He'd later go on and run a 10.01 at the Olympic Trials later that summer, but that is the kind of company Bey is in from a speed standpoint. And Bey is 3" taller.Man, Jeff Demps….What a nightmare. He was like lightening.
So he can run but can't hide, too tallDemps is a fun comparison. He ran a 10.37 in the Florida state T&F finals his senior year, I think. Then ran a 10.25 at AAU Junior Olympics. Yep, the clock is ticking on Pope starting this season. Talent was maybe an issue before with the crop of guys that just bolted. But with last year's class and the commits we have, talent is no longer an excuse. That group needs to develop and produce.I LOVE that we landed this kid...he is gonna be explosive like Hyatt IMO. Hes faster than Hyatt in a straight line. Dante Thornton level TDs are the FLOOR with this kid...and Donte couldnt stay healthy last season. Hyatt level TDs are a real possibility IMO. Watching his interviews you can tell he is a smart kid too so routes etc arent gonna be a problem for him. So excited to see him in Orange!
Tyreek King is a mongoose too...super quick and fast. Not surprised he just dominated at that 5* camp last weekend. Powers said he was THE dominant WR at the camp. " a TD waiting to happen". If we somehow manage to get Keys on board too in this class this would be the best WR class in a long time. We landed some really good WRs last season too that are gonna have breakout seasons this year IMO. The WR room is gonna be the best at UT in a long time in 26 and 27.
I forgot about Demps. I was thinking Percy Harvin.Demps is a fun comparison. He ran a 10.37 in the Florida state T&F finals his senior year, I think. Then ran a 10.25 at AAU Junior Olympics. He’s probably a fall back option for Texas in case other options don’t pan out.I have a bad feeling this is gonna be a hard one to keep in the class. Which is a good problem to have.
I think a lot of schools push for him this year. Texas hasn’t offered yet - strangely - and they only have two WR commits at the moment.
