'20 TX QB Haynes King (TAMU Commit)

That’s an interesting take. Good for you standing by your opinion, I don’t agree with any if it, but kudos for digging in. Just a couple notes however. When TL was deciding, UT was on the upswing, did have talent on the roster and just finished up their 2nd straight season with 8 wins regular season when he picked CU. UT didn’t finish in his top two, they started as his top choice since childhood. Dude has/had Manning posters all over his wall. Entire family full of Vol fans. Not a secret, look at his thread and I mentioned everything above. So, what took UT OUT of consideration? Butch Jones, his dad said he wouldn’t go there with Butch as HC.

Disagree on his HS teams as well, I can tell you Joey King will vehemently disagree that Lawrence was a byproduct of those around him. King will tell you, TL carried the team the entire time he was there.
It’s also why he wears 16. His favorite player of all time is Manning and who can blame him? Anyway you say they were on an upswing but my memory is 2 winning seasons in the last decade. I think now is the real upswing. Now don’t get me wrong, I know how my opinion sounds. I don’t disagree he’s a good qb. I don’t disagree he has the tools nor that he’s a top NFL prospect. What I disagree with is the notion that he’s a generational talent and his overall ranking coming out of HS. There are things he can’t do that others can. As I pointed out he doesn’t perform well under pressure. His accuracy isn’t always on point. He can’t run and doesn’t deliver well on the run. My point is not to point out his flaws as much as pointing out that his rating was higher than he deserved. One would expect the highest rated qb in 247 history to have very minimal flaws in his game. So it’s more of a shot at the services than a shot at him. Now if we’re talking about a generational talent then I feel like there’s only one we should be talking about. Justin Fields.

So it takes away from Lawrence’s talent that Bryant sucks? That’s astonishing “logic”. The kid beat down one of the 3 best defensive coaches in the history of college football with two of his top 3 receivers being a true freshman/sophomore. Two NFL GMs have been quoted as saying he would have been a top 5 pick in THIS years draft. But hey, if your trained eye tells you that he sometimes looks flustered by the blitz then you’re entitled to your opinion.

******That being said, I shouldn’t have called your opinion dumb. I took out my hatred for the Braves bullpen on you.
NFL GMs are NEVER wrong?

Trevor Lawrence is the prototype QB that every NFL team would design for themselves in a laboratory if they could. He is incredibly physically gifted, a strong leader, seems to have a good head on his shoulders, and improved tremendously as the season progressed. Kyler Murray is not in the same league as Lawrence.
💯

I’m actually one of the few that are happy he went elsewhere. Didn’t want him at Tennessee because I noticed it in him at the opening and Hs. UT wasn’t built the way he needed it to be and believe it or not most qbs know their own limitations. He would be under consistent pressure at UT (obviously) where he wouldn’t see much of that at Clemson.

Lol. You’re ridiculous. I think you’re trolling at this point.

Trevor Lawrence is not all that great. He’s really good but how can anyone call him a program changer or generational talent when they’ve never seen him have to put a team on his back? He’s from Cartersville HS and was surrounded by D1 talent. He had a choice between his favorite college team growing up (UT) and Clemson. Anyone that doesn’t think the kid chose Clemson over UT SIMPLY because they were loaded with talent and an easier road to the NFL has blinders on. Had he come to UT do you think we are competing for national titles? No. One thing is certain about him though if you payed attention to his game closely. He’s not very good under pressure. He loses his accuracy. He’s never had to deal with much pressure and I find it hard to believe that the highest ranked qb in the history of 247 should have ANY glaring flaws in his game. He can improve so I don’t doubt that but he’s no generational talent. He’s a product of his environment.

And what about Haynes King? He’s excellent, and unlike TL, might actually come to UT!

I'm not going to hold it against the guy for not wanting to play for Butch Jones. As a lifelong UT fan, I'm not so sure I would have hitched my wagon to that guy even when things were going good. By the time JP came around, it was WAY too late.

I don’t either, but that really wasn’t the point. I was gently suggesting to Son of D4H that this is King’s thread and TL is irrelevant.

He's probably looking at a RS year at aTm, too. So he and his father are looking for the best path to starting his second year. I just don't think distance is the main consideration. If HB weren't already committed, I think King would have committed to UT a while back.

This post. It's full of dumb.

I don't think distance is the main fact at all. But I do believe if we're tied after everything else is considered, it will a little factor that will break the tie. *Only then, but that makes sense, couldn't blame him.
All other things equal, I'd want my family to have an easier situation.

You should rewatch the title game

Haven't seen the other in a few months then this one shows up. If it's not D4H, then he's a clone. hahahaha
How did I not see it coming??? I want to chalk it up as my first interaction with his 2nd personality, but dang...you're right, so many similarities. Thank you for stopping me short of razors to my wrists. You've done a good thing today. Not the hero I deserved, but the hero I needed.

Hahaha I noticed it a couple weeks ago and asked him. He denied it but there are so many similarities it's hard not to wonder.
