Kind of surprising .... I guess I just never pictured Witten as a college coach, and I would've thought it would be Tennessee, Texas or Texas A&M if he did make that move. Oklahoma seems out of the blue, and brought on by Cooper's recruitment.

Well, at least we know this one is over and there won't be any time or visits wasted with it.

Makes it look like OU but some players dont want to play for their dad's. Tre Poteat didnt really consider Iowa St but his dad still helped him pick the best school for him in his recruitment

Isn't Cooper Witten buddies with JP Peace and they still have family in the area?

Probably a longer shot now, but maybe not completely over.

Davis has been effective but injuries have held him back a lot also. Didn’t he miss like 4-5 games this season?

Vols haven’t had a lot of luck with sons of former Vol players in recent years (10 or less). Some don’t come here, those that do often are symbolic pieces for the most part.

Abeln is just a guy, IMO. A convenient hire out of the inbred offensive Heupel coaching tree. We could have done better and I'd take Jason Witten over him, right now, no questions asked. That's purely based on the upside I think he has as a relevant name in the industry, his background and connections in Texas, and his son being an elite recruit. He may turn out to be no better than Abeln as a coach, but I think that's a low bar, personally.

Kitselman was a nice surprise in 2024, but was pretty disappointing, this year. Certainly didn't take another step. Quite a few drops, a couple that directly led to picks. I felt his blocking took a step back from 2024, as well.

Ethan Davis has been very up and down, partly due to his lack of availability in practice and missing several games. He's had moments, but he played 12 games in 2024 and only had 12 catches for 100 yds and 2 TDs.

Brame was a good get on paper, certainly. Didn't really translate to the field, yet, but he has time. JVD has shown promise as a blocker. Perhaps those two form a formidable duo in the future.

Jason Witten's next job will be Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys, the man loves the Cowboys and would've got the job this past season if he would've had any experience in college ranks...

We need to keep an eye on Jason’s housing solution in OK. Might indicate transience potential in the near future.

Maybe he sends his kid to play for Baylor or IMG type this year to avoid local pressure. Not a clue if he has an anti-sooner mindset with his Texas upbringing, Possible.

I did not talk to Jerry (Jones) about it. I think they went through a thorough process for them and got to a place where they felt like Brian (Schottenheimer) was the guy. But, yeah, of course, that’s a long-term goal of mine to one day get back there, when the right opportunity comes.

College TE coach to Cowboys head coach? I don't think so. Jerry isn't that crazy/reckless.

That statement also shows your view of the Cowboys' prospects in the future.
