I interviewed a guy one time for a position. I had advertised it for a certain amount of money. He was moving from out of state. It was for a welding position. I asked him about his experience doing what we needed. I told him he had to have those skills and advised him to go try amd find a place that he could practice those skills before he tested. He kept calling me wanting to test without having those skills. He finally just showed up and we tested him. On a two part test, he failed one and did extremely well on the other. My lead said he could bring him up to speed pretty quickly on the part he failed. I offered him the job at $2-3 less than what I advertised it at.
He turned it down saying he needed even more than what I advertised it at. I told him good luck and sent him on his way. He called me the next day and said he would take the job. I said no, that he had turned it down. He asked why and I told him he would just leave at the next $1 he was offered. He said he would never do that. I hired him and he lasted 6 weeks and left.
Moral of the story, don't hire people that don't want to work for you. Don't accept commitments from players that would rather be somewhere else.
