I thought I would give the board a summary of what to look for the next 2 weeks.

A big part of our finish has been around keeping commitments. Overall we have done a great job of this and we only have a few guys that our staff will have to sweat out till the end.

Commits Wavering
1. Dwayne Hendrix - Top 100 4* DE from Missouri - This guy has to be our #1 priority in terms of keeping commitments in the fold. He has been committed since the summer but has been getting the full court press from Missouri all along. He actually committed to us coming off of his UV to Missouri in the summer. His mother is a big Lady Vol BBall fan and would like to see him at UT. But he has a GF going to Saint Louis to play bball and he is wavering and thinking about staying closer to home. He is OVing at Missouri this weekend. Our D coaches are visiting him today and Butch as his in home next week. This is our most important player on the board.
Probability of keeping him - 75%

2. Derek Barnett - Top 250 4* DE from TN - Missouri is also pushing for Derek. He has his official visit to TN this weekend and it is very likely he shuts it down after that, but there is a chance he could take a last minute OV to Missouri next weekend. So keep an eye out for what he says coming out of his official this weekend.
Probability of keeping him - 95%

3. Cory Thomas - 3* DT from AL - Cory visited Clemson last weekend and has a visit to Miss St this weekend and is finishing up the last weekend with an OV to TN. He has publicly said that he doesn't like the number of DLine commits we have and is concerned about playing time long term at TN. Miss St is thought to be the biggest threat here. Our coaches certainly would like to keep him, but have a couple of possible replacements we will discuss later.
Probability of keeping him - 40%

4. Kevin Mouhon - Top 250 4* LB from Georgia - This one is weird. Kevin's brother played for Butch Jones at Cincy and is going to be a RS Jr. for the Bearcats next season. Kevin took a surprise visit to Cincy and reports are he is actually considering signing there. He also doesn't like the number of LB commits we have and specifically we have another MLB prospect Gavin Bryant committed that looks to be an absolute beast. Originally many thought Gavin would flip to Auburn or Miami now that he has his grades in order, but he has firmed up his commitment. So are our coaches now encouraging this move for Kevin due to us now feeling good about Gavin? Or is it a case of Kevin worried about playing time? He OV's to TN next weeekend.
Probablity of Keeping him - 50%

Due to the above players wavering and the staff still maybe wanting at least one more number on the commitment list we are still recruiting a few guys very hard, I am going to only discuss the ones we have any shot at landing.

Final Prospects we are Recruiting

1. Derell Scott - Top 250 4* RB from NC - Scott is a big piece to our overall class and future of our program for several reasons. Derrell is out of Havelock, NC which is home to RS FR Kendall Vickers. This school produces a ton of talent and would be a great beginning of getting entrenched back into the state of NC. He is also important because our main competition for him is from the Gamecocks of SC. They have recruited him since his So. year of HS and he has been thought to be a silent to SC many times over the last 3 years. But CRG has done a fantastic job getting TN into the good graces of Scott the past year and we are now looking very good heading into his announcement week. Our staff will be in his home tonight while the Gamecocks get the last visit tomorrow night. These will be the final pitches for each school and early reports are that it will take a big upset for Steve Spurrier and Deke Adams to reverse the Vol vibes for Derrell.

Chances we get his commitment - 75%

2. Adoree Jackson - Top 10 5* DB/ATH from CA via Illinios - Adoree is the big fish. He is down to USC, UCLA, LSU, UF and TN. He truly has everyone guessing. He like USC and UCLA because he loves LA and has become comfortable there. He was recruited out of Illinois by his current high school Serra High to play Track and Football. His family is still in Southern Illinios which is why some east coast options are still available. LSU and UF have recruited Adoree for a long time. They are both selling coming to power SEC schools and be a part of top track programs and go to the olympics and play NFL football. TN on the other hand has connections to the family. Adoree's dad is close with the director of basketball operations for CCM at TN and some of his assistant and Coach Martin himself from their days in East St. Louis. TN is the only school that is driving distance for the family (7 hours) and after he has been in California away from them in HS they'd like to be closer to him for his college days. He is close with Josh Malone, but is with other schools commits as well. USC, UF and TN were able to visit in home with Adoree in IL with him and his parents. Could he don the Big Orange cap on signing day? Certainly, but it is a toss up right now as to where he announces.

Chances we get his commitment - 25%

Great Summary. I think this explains why CBJ is still recruiting hard. I'm still amazed at how other teams seem to be able to flip our D Line commits at the 11th hour and leave us kicking pop cans. Hopefully, this will not end up being the case this year.

2. Craig Evans - Top 250 4* DT from Wisconsin - Craig has been committed off and on to Wisconsin for the past 8 months. He is originally from Mississippi and seems intrigued with the idea of playing in the SEC after we offered him a few weeks ago. He played in a recent HS all star with our DT commit Charles Mosely and was getting the Big Orange pitch all week. That has led to him coming to Knoxville this weekend for a OV and will be meeting with Charles on that trip. Many think it is a long shot that he flips from his home state Badgers, but his comments coming out of the visit will be important to watch.

Chances we get his commitment - 40%

I love the idea of us getting 11th hour committments, but I hate the idea of our committments leaving us on the 11th hour.

I would agree with all the above exept I think we have very little chance at getting Evans or keeping Thomas.

If it's possible to assign %s to such things, I think both #s should be much lower.

In the end, I think we wind up with Barnett, Mouhon and Scott. Hendrix I can't get a good read on. Seems to me he's a coinflip. Would be a huge loss if he opts to go elsewhere.

And a lot of people seem to dismiss Thomas as no big deal, but losing him will suck. He's going to eventually be a 300 lb terror for somebody (provided he qualifies).

Truly, I don't know what my teenage to 20 somethings are gonna do 97.6% of the time....

"They say 3 percent of the people use 5 to 6 percent of their brain
97 percent use 3 percent and the rest goes down the drain
I'll never know which one I am but I'll bet you my last dime
99 percent think we're 3 percent 100 percent of the time

64 percent of all the world's statistics are made up right there on the spot
82.4 percent of people believe 'em whether they're accurate statistics or not
I don't know what you believe but I do know there's no doubt
I need another double shot of something 90 proof
I got too much to think about

Too much to think about
Too much to figure out
Stuck between hope and doubt
It's too much to think about

They say 92 percent of everything you learned in school was just bull**** you'll never need
84 percent of everything you got you bought to satisfy your greed
Because 90 percent of the world's population links possessions to success
Even though 80 percent of the wealthiest 1 percent of the population
Drinks to an alarming excess
More money, more stress"

I think Mouhon's brother is a RS JR.

He will be next season. He has 2 years of eligibility left.

That probably has a big appeal to Mouhon, but switching at the last minute seems out of his character. I think he sticks.

Great analysis, EricVol. Thanks for this.

Hadn't heard much about our wavering commits before now, but I assumed there would be a few (there always are). Here's to hoping we can hang onto 3 of the 4 waverers and add Scott, and maybe Evans. (Would love to get Adoree, but has always seemed like a long shot to me.)

Yeah I hope we keep all of our guys but I would be hurt to badly if we loss Thomas and gained Evans.

I really don't want to lose any of those guys, we need d-linemen and LBs.

We will never content in the SEC again until we studs all over our defensive front 7.

Hendrix can find a new girl in K town. BTW, why would Mouhon or Thomas be worried about competing with defensive players coming in the same class? If they are SEC material it should not matter. Anywhere they sign there will be competition.

I have to say, following the CBJ & Co. recruiting cycle for the last year has been almost as entertaining as watching Vols football.

Can't wait for the last 2 weeks. Hope we finish strong. GBO!

completely agree! From the mass commits during the one week to the 1 after every loss. It has been great this past year following recruiting.
