Two screen shots from a single play

And not one single explanation given as to why play was stopped. There is no doubt in my mind that we would’ve punched it in the end zone on that drive. We had bama on their heels and were gaining serious momentum!
GBO!!
Did they not say that the play clock wasn’t reset? Why do I feel like I heard that?

If you spend every football season complaining about how they don't call holding, after 10 or 15 years wouldn't you start to wonder at least a little bit about the finer points of legal holding? I played football 40 years ago, and they told me where I could hold and how to do it.
Was a headlock our a bear hug (like above pics) one of those ways you were shown as “legal holds”?

A call needs to be made and an outrage needs to be spilled over this. I hope Pruitt and our offices are at least trying to swing for heads

Was it Jordan? I thought they called it on Morris? I know for fact, Morris wasn’t holding, he was just driving his man down field. I’d have to go back and watch Jordan. My guess is it’s probably bogus on him as well.
GBO!!

They called it on Morris because they knew before the play started they were going to make the call. They just said the left tackle's number because they figured he'd be tied up enough to make it plausible. Unfortunately he pancaked his man, so the announcers had to cover their butts by fingering Jordan.

Sounds reasonable. That last sentence though...🤢

I played 45 years ago and you couldn't grab anything. You could play with your hands open but you couldn't close your fist in a jersey.

The amount of "respect" the officials show to Nick Saban is staggering. He has longevity, he has authority, and he is a winner. They reward him as such. It'll be much less blatant once he's gone.

If you are in a red jersey,in Alabama, with Hubert Owens head ref, there is no such call as holding.

Yeah, the silence from the booth was epic on that one. Greise was even calling bs by the end of the game, and he started out as an unmitigated Bama homer. I don’t call out officiating, I prefer we fix ourselves before pointing externally, but it was the worst I can recall.

No flags of course. This was the play where Tua went Tango Uniform. Terrible. Every single play just like this!
