Two Questions from LSU game

The player was not involved, nor did he impact anything.

The players were within five yards of a live fumble and you don't think that counts as being within an area constituting involvement of the play? I'm sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree with this.

We can agree to disagree. Regardless, the whole debacle was lamentable and I certainly do not revel in the win.

Agree to disagree.

Just because he was within 5 yards doesn't mean he was involved or impacted anything. Actually, it's quite clear if you watch the replay that he didn't do either.

You shouldn't be on the field if the ball is still live. You certainly shouldn't be just out of arms length away from the ball.

Ok, I went back and looked at the replay for first time.

When I looked at the replay with 0.00 seconds left I see the LSU QB fall on the ball with TN players piling on and a split second later the LSU player removes helmet. Now I can't really tell if the LSU QB controlled the ball on the bottom of the pile for a second or not inorder for the ball to be downed because the ball is hidden, but about the time the LSU player throws the helmet I see a TN player holding the ball. Here is where I am confused-I keep hearing Vols say that the LSU player absolutely took the helmet off while the play was going on. Is there another angle? Because I can't tell from the film I saw if the ball is rolling on ground or if LSU QB downed it before the helmet came off.

And if the ball was still live would TN also get a penalty or its two guys running on the field with helmets off before the LSU player removed his helmet?

I have two questions from the LSU game. They may have been asked and answered somewhere but looking through other threads I couldn't locate them.

1. Why was a flag not thrown on the "academic player of the week" center from LSU? Just as the final play was over he threw his helmet to the ground. But the game was not over since the flag had been thrown. Should LSU's last play have been from the 15 yard line?.

I hadn't thought about that one. I was wondering about intentional grounding on 1st and goal after the PI call. Should have been 2nd and goal from the 11. Lee was clearly inside the pocket and threw it 20 yards deep out of the back of the endzone with no one remotely close. See for yourself at 1:15.

As others have already pointed out, it is not grounding to throw through the endzone. QB position doesn't matter. This is the same in college and pro football.
