...are Ahmad Paige and Tyler Maples. With all the injuries we've had they would both be getting some playing time, especially Paige. With only 5 scholarship receivers healthy right now and 3 of those freshman, they would have certainly be given an opportunity.

I don't think Maples was ever likely to see much playing time at UT. Paige, I could understand.

They still would be 2nd string, at best, with the 3 freshmen shoving them farther down the depth chart. Guess you people need something to talk about. Thy saw the writing on the wall. They were not going to see the field much...and still wouldn't.

yea, I was thinking the exact same thing today. Almost started a thread...

but then I thought, if they hadn't left, the order of events would have been different and therefore the exact same events would not have happened. My brain hurts.

Dagum theory of (special) relativity!!!

I don't think either would have seen the field...but it will always be in the back of their minds. All it takes is for someone to get a chance and they take advantage of it.

I think Maples is fine. He still wouldn't have had an opportunity to be a big contributor here. Right now, he and that QB from UCLA are getting treated like royalty at Furman. For someone who has talent and is a true lover of football, it might be more fun to be the man at a smaller school than to MAYBE be the number 4 WR at a big school.

I know this is slightly off topic, but I can think of someone else I'd like to have back. BJ Coleman. I understand he left on his own, but the kid couldve been a great leader for UT this year and the years to come. Im not saying he wouldve been the next Manning or even a great player, but he couldve been good.

Maples made the right choice in leaving. He wasn't going to get playing time regardless. If Todd Campbell can't get on the field, then Tyler Maples wouldn't have either

He looked a great deal better than Crompton at the Orange and White game. IDK, if he wasn't getting a fair shot, what chance was there of that ever changing?

he didn't look a great deal better and in live game action last year he looked terrible.

he got a fair shot,although not in his mind.he wanted to be named the starter at the end of spring.:cray:

If you can't beat out Jonathan Crompton, that's your own damn fault. There isn't a coach IN THE WORLD who would have a hidden agenda of having Jonathan Crompton be the starter no matter what. BJ Coleman is a sissy...the Vince Young (now) of college football. He whines and complains and makes excuses for his inability to succeed. I'm glad he left...rather see him quit before the season than during.
