Two observations...

You're looking at a staff that has (for most of them) worked together for a number of years. I think that's the area we tend to forget. Dooley's Staff was like a rag tag group of guys. Never felt cohesive like this group. Still the results are shown on the field and on the score board. What is evident is the sense of urgency and not the "we have arrived" mentality.

I think the cohesiveness can't be overstated, on the recruiting trail and what I believe will translate to the field as well.

This staff is covering all of the social media outlets. It's something that the previous staff never did. I like the idea of having Tennessee all over Facebook, Twitter, etc. We will see if it helps out in the end.

This staff really seems to get it. All the social media involvement not only seem to make them more accessible to us fans, but it is also the language of today's students.

Here is my two cents worth, if CBJ can manage a top 15 recruiting class this year then he will be a real threat to haul in a top 5 next year. The man is working hard right now.
GO VOLS

could we not hace used some that 45 million on the kids parents (cam newtons dad) just kidding we will win

Yeah, all we need is a heismanesque player whose dad is just as corrupt as the Vatican. Good to see a man of God leading by example.

Wasn't the whole reason Dools was hired was because Hamilton liked his organization skills?

Wait, what am I saying, I answered my own question. Nothing to see here. Move along.

That was the blind leading the blinder:crazy::snoring:

First, it seems like this staff is recruiting extremely hard. They seem to be covering the entire country in a matter of days. I don't remember the previous staff moving around like this. I'm not sure if it is due to them playing catch up, but it seems like they have brought a different mentality to UT recruiting.

Second, I am pleased to see results from these OVs and UOVs. I can't remember how many time the last staff hosted recruits and we were told to expect big news, and then we got nothing. It seems like we are not only getting commits from the visits, but we are also getting a lot of positive feedback. Many times in the past the silence would be deafening after visits.

Just a couple of thoughts, is anyone else noticing this?

shame it isn't paying off yet.

It is paying off thus the VISITS from players we were out of the loop on. Typically it doesn't pay off if you can't even get in the door. I am impressed with how hard this staff has worked continuously since arriving here. I think we have a coach who people will follow.

Don't we have the highest recruiting budget in NCAA or SEC? If so, this staff is putting them to good use!!!

I am sure Butch promotes use of twitter and other social media unlike the previous staff. Kids love and follow them and will create a good impact!

I guess we'll know what kind of recruiters these guys are in about 3 weeks. If they don't reel in some big fish it's going to be a long 7 months to Sept. We all read the TFP article about 5*s gushing over the possibility of a big name coach at UTK. Get the job done. No more excuses.

they need to reel in some big fish to help win some football games, but at this point, missing out doesnt make them bad recruiters. they have stirred a buzz on the recruiting trail that hasnt been around since Kiffin. thats a good accomplishment given the time they have had, and selling a system that hasnt been tested in the SEC. thats not an easy task.

Doesn't seem like James Franklin had any trouble recruiting with VU's resources. Fair or not, this staff was a let down to most of Volnation the day they walked in the door and they are going to have to prove themselves at every step. If they can't close stronger than what Dooley did with even less time then I'd call it a bad omen. Reel 'em in. No excuses.

Its got to be the word on the street...if thats twitter, facebook and or word of mouth which spreads quicker than in the past...CBJ strikes me as a down to earth coach, doesnt carry a "Im better than you" into the familys homes and interviews with players. Seems to have time for everyone not just the selected few, and the complex and a 6 year contract doesnt hurt either, means there is a good chance he will be the coach for the intering freshman when they decide to graduate 3-4 years from now. Go Vols

CBJ is using all angles such as social media to get after recruits and is a players coach. Dooley did not and was not. Recruits are picking up on this quick. When recruits visit, they ask current players about the new staff and they are telling them it wasn't fun last year but they have made it fun again (staff wise). I've been pleasantly surprised but we all just want W's. IMO Jones is a football coach and knows football in and out, while Dooley was just a Manager who left the coaching and football knowledge up to his assistants.

What is the basis in fact for this sweeping statement? Who are the "most" that you seem to have knowledge about?
Not to rehash the coaching hire.....but, I believe that UT had 2 coaches that were ever reasonably in play to accept the job. Coaches Jones and Strong.....Strong seemed to be a go and then waffled. Jones could not accept fast enough.

Yes, he has to now go about the process of rebuilding the program. That will take time and to use his first recruiting class after the terrible season that Dooley just
presided over is unrelistic, short-sighted and just flat-out-- unfair.

i believe he means jones staff was a let down. i feel the same way. i don't think many wanted an almost all cincy staff. was a downer then and isn't producing yet.

If we were to take a poll as of today if this staff is a letdown you would come out on the losing end. Start one and back it up.
