Two Hoosiers are named “Peyton.”

Awesome, a thread to bash two of the best QBs who ever played for us. Great way to start 2020
I’m not bashing Shuler. I’m saying that nostalgia blinds a lot of people who think Shuler was better than Peyton or Clausen or Dobbs. Simply not true

As someone who grew up in Indiana, there are a TON of Peyton's now living there, all born in the early 2000's. Also, there are a TON of Vol fans in Indiana, lots of people living there now either grew up in Tennessee, have relatives in Tennessee or vacation in Tennessee.
Yep, I have lots of relatives in Indiana.

Agree 110% on everything said above...have lived in Indiana my entire wife and there is a HUGE Tennessee effect here regarding kids named Peyton. I'd also say outside of IU,Purdue and Notre Dame that Tennessee is CLEARLY the most popular college team around these parts. You can't go anywhere in south Central Indiana without seeing UT license plates or fans wearing Vols gear.

Yes the Orange Bowl was the Bowl Alliance NC game
...
Okay if we had won that game. Michigan would have still been the undefeated Champion.

Michigan would have had to lose and we would have to beat Nebraska. It wasn't a "championship " game.
It was still all up to the voters.

Peyton never played in a National Championship....

So was 80,000 other people...
Does that make them experts on the AP and Coaches poll voting???

Why do you think there was BCS created to begin with?

Peyton never played in a National Championship...
Doesn't effect my sleep either way 👍.
We won the National Championship the very next year BTW.

I know exactly why the BCS was created. It was to claim a true NC and since the SEC was the only conference that wanted a playoff, we had to create the BcS to pull the Big Slow conference and Pac10 conference and lame Rose Bowl into the 21st century.
That being said, I am 100% correct in my factual statement that the Orange Bowl was the Bowl Alliance NC game. We were arguably a handful of plays of playing in 5 straight NC games which is really disappointing coaching wise when you consider the talent we had from 95-99.

He was talking about against Florida and his college career. I know it sucks but it's true. LoL

No he wasn't. The post, which is now deleted, mentioned a big game. The SB is the Big Game. The SECCG is a big game. PM passed both tests.

So PM lost to UF 3 times (in '95 the D gave up 62... 62!); he only lost 6 times in his entire collegiate career. Anyone taking a shot at him on this board can go suck themselves.

Shuler couldn’t beat Bama, what’s the difference? At least Peyton won the SEC and played in a NC game.

The difference is between wining the Heisman, and being the first to shake Woodson's hand. Uh..on what date did Peyton play in a NC game? I don't remember that game.

Who cares about the Heisman? Peyton constantly proved he deserved it, but that’s a separate discussion as a Woodson wasn’t even the best “multi position” player out there. And again the Orange Bowl was the Bowl Alliance NC game

I guess any of the top 3-4 bowls could be considered a possible NC game pre-BCS, but that would be a stretch, IMO.

Oh, OK. Like had we won, one of the polls would not have split it with someone else.

You bet it would be a stretch. As stated in my last response. Why, to this day, I have no respect for the polls.
