Two Deep Depth Chart Released

No it isn't. Butch is back next year unless the wheels fall off (6-6 or worse). If he goes 7-5, it depends on who the losses are to.

Keep setting expectations this low and wonder why we havent been good in over 15 years.

Last I checked this is Tennessee. When did perpetual mediocrity guarantee job security? Butch got his pass last year because of the injuries. Its ATL or bust this year. Win the East and it shows he can still be a championship coach. Win only 9 games again and we know what he is. And that's a mediocre coach.

Mediocrity should NOT be the standard at Tennessee.

I said before fall camp he would make a name for himself by this point. The kid is special. He might be our best receiver this season along with Latrell Williams.

Also understated that Latrell Williams is listed first at spot receiver ahead of Tyler Byrd. That's big news. I've been high on him since he signed with us last year.

Butch is soo messing this up as Byrd is an ALL WORLD cornerback and he is underutilizing his talents just like he is doing w/ Evan Berry and just like he did w/ Alvin Kamara.......Put Byrd on Defense and let him start opposite Justin Martin and use Evan Berry as least as a decoy on Offense

Palmer starting is surprising. I figured Callaway had it locked down. But Palmer has looked smooth and natural in clips.

Palmer has the highest NFL ceiling of any receiver we have. He's the only guy we have that has pro-bowl WR potential in the NFL. I compared him to former Ohio State great and pro-bowl NFL WR David Boston. Palmer has that sort of physical ability.

Our 2 most talented receivers in terms of NFL potential are Josh Palmer and Latrell Williams.

Josh Palmer = David Boston
Latrell Williams = TY Hilton

Yes it is. Our talent level indicates that anything short of Atlanta is a monumental disappointment.

This is Tennessee. Mediocrity is unacceptable. We should hold this program to a standard of greatness. And after 4 full recruiting classes (2 of them being top 5) and a lineup littered with NFL caliber juniors and seniors, it's winning time for Butch Jones. I gave him a pass last year because of the injuries.

He aint getting no pass this year. Its put up or shut up time for him.

when you're the only one saying "SEC title or bust", then i'm going to say that's a you problem, not an us problem.

and while i believe you believe it to be true...that simply doesn't make it so.

No wonder you think it is Atlanta or bust for this team this year. You somehow project about half the players on our team to eventually start in the NFL.

I do.

We are ridiculously stacked when it comes to future NFL talent. Any halfway decent coach would win 10 games MINIMUM with this squad in his sleep.

There is no excuse for Butch Jones to win big with this level of talent. No excuse.

Well, he had a situation tailor-made to make it to Atlanta last year, failed, and brings back a team this year that isn't as good (on paper). It's asking quite a bit for this team to win the East, particularly when Georgia is better and Florida might have a QB.

This team is simply not as talented as you think it is, and I think you put way too much stock in star ratings and overall recruiting class rankings rather than looking at our depth chart relative to other schools in the conference. At this point in 2017, I don't really care where our 2015 recruiting class was ranked. We know how those players more or less turned out, and we can begin to analyze the depth chart now because those 2015 recruits are/should be contributors.

Butch has recruited good frontline talent at a number of positions, which has led to those good class rankings. However, at a number of position groups (linebacker and defensive line in particular), the depth chart is not particularly deep, and the secondary generally speaking is not very good.

Man please please u making comparisons on players that we have never see play a college down before..Just relax lets see what these kids do first before we start making comparisons..Anybody can look good running routes in practice let me see game action on tv in front of big stage..Then we can make comparisons

I keep seeing this....'we don't develop enough talent'...

Wasn't Jumper a preferred walk on? Now he's a starting MLB...

I mean....is that not development? Lol.

In several years we haven't developed another player to beat out a pretty slow walk on. He's not awful but he's not SEC quality

I'm tickled Bates is being given a shot at serious playing time. The youngster has been hurt alot while on The Hill and gets few mentions by the staff to the press. Given that Shoop has some faith in him I've got to believe the youngster will play lights out while in there. If we can keep OLs off Jumper and Bates they can shine big time Monday night. If we don't we'll have to depend on our offense to outscore them and it will be a long night.

A few interesting things:

- CFA behind Kelly at RB (not Chandler)
- Palmer starting at WR
- Jumper starting at MLB (I guess not surprising, just disappointing no one else has separated himself there)
- Reginald McKenzie, Jr (!) is 6'3"? Didn't he come in at 6'0"?
- Moseley still starting at CB
- Sapp 3rd string behind Berry at LB

Just my thoughts... I see the "OR's" but it seems the cats listed first are first for a reason, and it's not alphabetical!
actually i agree with all your surprises but 3. Jumper starting at MLB is not surprising to me his backup is. big mac was always 6'3" and mosely starting at QB makes all the sense in the world ot me.
