Two crucial coaching calls that cost us a chance to win

We were defeated because of lack of execution on both sides of the ball as well as special teams. It has nothing to do with the play calling or the gameplan, players make plays and fans want to critique coaching and players on the field.

Yea because it is virtually impossible to overcome those decisions with 58+ minutes remaining in a 0-0 game.

But deflating the team like those three and that duck hook that followed were a big deal.

I agree with the 1st one. It almost seems like the staff out-thunk themselves. We knew Auburn was jacked up to stop the run.
While I didn;t like those calls, you gotta love the 4th down call with the play action rollout and hit the TE.
So, I am not sure I should really criticize.

1) Throwing three straight times after Nukeese broke off that 41 yard run on the first play.

2) Kicking off to McCalleb 2 times in a row when it was obvious that he was a dangerous returner - especially against our kickoff team.

I love Kiffin and staff, but they made some mistakes in this game. Not cashing in points on that first drive was killer and Auburn getting the ball in our territory after we had pulled within 7 really hurt us.

1) Agreed. Poor play-calling, especially when you consider who is throwing the passes.

2) Agreed. Part of it is Lincoln doesn't have a strong leg, but we'll have Palardy kicking next year. Regardless of Lincoln's shortcomings, you would think that our coaching staff could have learned what to do after the first time we got burned.

yea daniel lincoln missing a chip shot and betting one blocked is definitely the coaches fault right your a retard. the coaches called what was our best shot at winning the game and if you dont think they want to win as bad or worse than you do then you are badly mislead

You have a long way to go before you can call ANYONE a retard. Reading your crap post made me dizzy and ill. You may try picking up a book or staying awake in class.

Maybe I've missed it, but I don't think we've recruited a kicker for next year. Can't continue to give teams the ball at the 45 yard line and expect to win the field position advantage.

Yes, you did miss it.

So, because I question two coahing calls, I know nothing about football and get called a retard. I like what Kiffin is doing and I think he will improve our program, Criticizing him doesn't make me stupid or less of a Vol fan.

No, but if you honestly think that we intend to kick it to the other team's best returner, then you don't know football.

Let's just say this. What do you think the chances are that Kiffin before the Florida game said, "Yeah, let's go ahead and kick it toward James' direction. He's average, and he never does anything on special teams."? I would say the chances are somewhere between 0 and 0. So, don't blame Kiffin for that.

We are terrible in every aspect of the game of football right now except for running the ball and our secondary. I'm not saying Kiffin is a great playcaller, but no one can say the opposite either. We are playing with a bunch of mental midgets and no talent. You might be right in that Kiffin needs to lean more on an OC. But, you might be wrong. It is IMPOSSIBLE to tell right now. Impossible.

First, name 1 game where a coach or player didn't make a mistake. If we came out and ran the ball and didn't get any thing after the long play by Nukeese then you would be agruing by didn't we throw it..or why didn't we do this..? As far as the kicking game...our guy just have to get the job done..
Your comments are a joke...

I don't see how people can complain about the playcalling on that first drive. It was execution, thats all. Auburn was stacked to stop the run.
The first pass was caught for a short gain, just as good as a run. Both of the next 2 passes hit the receivers in the hands and they dropped both of them. Cant blame that on playcalling, on crompton or even IMO on coaching period because if a kid gets a scholly to play WR at a major college, he should have the basic ability of making a simple catch.

I think the 43 pass attempts by Crompton were.....surprising to say the least.

Im like a few on here.good play calling but you have to execute.crompton throws to somebody wide open either over them or behind and when he did throw it they would drop it.now in the 4th quarter is what it looks like when u execute but a lil to late

Agree, I think in the Ga game we will hopefully see a lot more of the hurry up offence. That is when Crompton did his best. And with the buy week before Bama, hopefully they can really work on the hurry up, and use it a lot the rest of the season. Keep the faith. GO VOLS
