A Facebook comment has your real name and your picture. A Twitter comment has a picture of whatever your avatar is, and is only seen by you and the guy you send it to and whatever tiny number of people are following both you and him.

if you already know a recruit or his family, by all means do whatever. If you don't, it's ridiculous, and if one of my sons were to ever be recruited for anything, he won't be communicating with clowns like some of you on twitter and fb, i promise. He'll know better.

I am 21 years old, and I would not tweet these kids. I'm not a big pedomoron. You guys who tweet recruits should stop unless you are their friend in real life.

I think as long as your under 30 its fine, preferably under 25, older than that and it gets kinda creeps, these kids are in high school.

I am currently a junior so I can speak for kids my age (which will be next years class), and I have multiple friends who are getting recruited by UT right now and if you think for one minute that following a recruit on twitter is creepy.. its not. We love attention and pretty much everyone I know, myself included is on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook everyday all the time. So VN get with the times. :hi:

OP makes a good point. I would bet that those that bash people on VN for mentioning Twitter don't use Twitter. I would also bet that they don't know what it's about. Give it a shot, if you don't like it delete your account. It is much less intrusive than Facebook and the 17-18 year olds live on Twitter. I started using it for a branding campaign and found that I enjoyed it so I make a personal account too.

Thank you, and thank you. I'm on twitter and rarely say more than "good luck" to recruits. I'm just tired of people on VN making it out to be something it isnt. These recruits eat up followers and want fans tweeting at them. Its like their own little spotlight. But when someone brings up a kids twitter on here they're labeled a stalker or some other bull ish. Not long ago rock and roll was the devils music. Those people got with the times, its about time VN did too. Social networking is not going anywhere.

And contributes to recruiting turning into a gigantic ****show, thus heading toward an unbearably annoying level.

I don't think anyone has a problem with people sending positive messages to recruits on twitter. It's the idiots who bash recruits if they don't pick UT or say something positive about another school. That is the biggest complaint I have when it comes to twitter + recruits.

Does it make them happy to think that 40 year old men are pouring through all their @ replies to their friends? E.g., "Oh my god he's not happy! What's wrong? Does anybody know if he's got a girl? Oh god I hope he's pissed at a girl!!!"

It's not following a recruit's public tweets that's creepy. It's poking around as deeply in their personal lives as possible that's creepy. And a crapton of that goes on.
