That's not true.....the only thing I feel confident happened was strong turned down the job and butch accepted the job
According to some midwest hoops insiders, a deal was on the table between UT and Tim Miles and possibly team of Miles and Doug McDermott. Miles backed away.
I don't care if he was offered or not, really doesn't mater at this point, that's not my point anyways. It's that a dysfunctional AD and bad pub can land you interviewing an assistant coach, and a HC who has been to 1 NCAAT in 6 years.
Buzz left Marquette for a worse job, in a really tough conference to get out of there, that says a lot. Martin could've stayed but left as well, that says something also IMO. Who we hire, and how much we have to overpay (if we do) will say a lot.
If you get Tyndall for $1.1m then it wasn't as bad as I thought, if it takes $1.5+ to get Tyndall then it took a lot of convincing to get him to leave when it shouldn't.
Yea: we beat a floundering Iowa team, a mediocre UMASS team and a no-name school and everybody thinks Martin is a genius. The pundits didn't follow the program. Here's the bottom line: Some guys live to compete and some guys don't. Martin is another Tubby Smith: Starts to feel a little pressure and he flees--goes to a program that has NO--zero--basketball tradition. What does that tell you?
