Tuttle loses his stripe...

Don't underestimate O'Brien and Williams. Williams is freakishly strong. Obrien played with a bum arm last year and did well.

It doesn't matter to me if they start.. I'm confident with all our DTackles.. But I am curious to see Shy & Kahlil line up together.. But to be honest, with the depth @ DTackle.. I'm just excited for this group altogether.. Then we start talking Barnett, Maggitt, Phillips & Co.. IMO, this line doesn't have a drop off.. The LBackers should be licking their chops playing behind this group!

Yep I think the combined strength of Williams and McKenzie rotating at NT will flat out wear down opposing teams' center and guards over the course of 4 quarters.

Nice to have several D-Lineman that could require a double team. Teams are going to have keep a TE or RB (or both) in the backfield to help block these guys.

Do you guys think that Tuttle and KMac might both start against Bowling Green? It's certainly possible.

Possible? Yes. Probable? I have doubts for BOTH to start. Get a lot of reps? Absolutely. I believe if they are both dominate in those reps, they could both very easily start against Oklahoma. Just an opinion.

Don't forget guys, KMac didn't even play his senior year in high school. Butch is keeping the expectations down on his best defensive lineman :):):). His stripe will be removed soon enough.

Tuttle is supposed to have great technique and pad leverage.

I'm as realistic/pessimistic as they come, but I honestly don't see how anyone will run on or hold back this line in a couple years when Phillips/Tut/KMac are veteran players.

This will allow the D a tremendous amount of flexibility with coverages, etc.

Either Butch is trying to temper expectations with Kahlil or it just might take a little longer for him to get accilimiated to this level of football than originally thought. I personally thought he would AT WORST be the second freshmen to lose his stripe. I know his teammates have been more complimentary of him than the coaches. So we'll see whats up in a few weeks when games actually start getting played.

Remember....the PLAYERS choose who gets to remove their stripe...not the coaches.

Come on September...this is worse than waiting on Christmas as a little kid.

CBJ might be using a strip to help motivate an already good player by leaving KMAC's strip on and removing Shy's. Also, he is rewarding Shy for his effort and work and in a way showing Shy that he is not an after thouht and is just as important to the team as KMAC. JMO and not worth 2 cents, or sence, or since, or scents.

I thought the decision was between the position coach and the player's upperclassman mentor?

No but they will rotate with Kendall Vickers, Owen Williams and O'Brien. That should help our run defense towards the 4th quarter more this year.

I wonder how many reps Saulsberry is scheduled to get? I know Butch is preserving him in practices. Man, I would love to see him contribute all season.

I think Saulsberry's knees are pretty much slaw at this point and he is on the field through sheer will and determination at this point. Getting a couple snaps a game would be miraculous.

Let's not forget that Kahlil hasn't play a down of football in over a year until fall practice started a couple weeks ago.

IDK, but thought it was telling he was in khakis and a polo like the coaches during media day.
