Turning in my True Fan card

Guys I'm sorry.

I am getting married on October 24th. At 6 PM. I'm going to miss the Bama/UT game.

I'll take my lashes now.

Wow, just wow. My son's wife tried to set their date for the FL game in 2013. Told them I would not be there. She was OK with it but my son bucked up and made her change.

Pretty sure it is somewhere in the book of exodus about how 'yon manhood shall be forthwith forfeited if ye make other priority over SEC football.' But it is the Old Testament. Open to interpretation.

Of all the days to get married, you get married on this day? I made the face in my avatar.

Seriously though, congrats on the marriage. Hope your wife/UT give you an awesome wedding night gift.

I read that but shrugged it off as an anachronism. Things were different and God had to issue special injunctions for special people at special times. Small incremental moral improvements and such, the bona fide manifestations of omnipotence and omnibenevolence.

I thought you were going to say you left the Georgia game when it was 24-3.......Those guys need to turn in their true fan cards.

Pay back is taking your anniversary trip to the UT/Bama game every year. Win. Win.

Oct 24th is my Anniversary...but I didn't get married on the actual Bama/UT game. It was a Thursday.

I still didn't think it 100% though.

In fairness, she knows that when UT is playing, I'm watching it, and she has no issues with it. One of the many reasons why I love her. Oh and she pretends to be interested in the game even though she has no idea what's going on, just to make me happy.

She sounds like a keeper :good!:. Congrats on the upcoming marriage. Hopefully you will get a gift of a UT win to go along with a great wife.

You probably can still be a fan for giving up the game for your bride. HOWEVER...you must turn in your card for making your groomsmen miss it to be in YOUR wedding.

My 19-year-old daughter is a VFL and loves football. Her serious boyfriend is a gator, unfortunately, but one thing they can agree on is they won't be getting married anywhere close to football season. We had tentatively planned on getting to Knoxvegas for the Nov. 14 homecoming game against North Texas so I could be in the Pride of the Southland alumni band for the second time. But, a very good friend of hers did the unthinkable and scheduled a wedding for that day ... and my daughter is the maid of honor, so there is no way we can miss it. I just don't understand people who schedule a wedding during football season.

Best of luck to you man. I went through this with the Bowling Green game. Opening game of the year and my sister schedules her wedding for an hour before kickoff. Needless to say phones and Ipods were in heavy use afterwards. I felt like a bad fan so I definitely feel ya.

I was asked to usher at a wedding before asking the date. The third Saturday...in October? That's ....Ala....Bama ?!

I came through with the ear piece in and every guy in the church would ask as I passed seating guests: Score? 7-0 Little Man fumbled on their 1. As soon as the wedding concluded and the reception was starting about 30 people crowded around my car to watch a 5 inch cigarette lighter plug in black and white television to see David Palmer tie us in Birmingham. (Yeah I am getting old)

All the best for your wedding. I hope she is a Vol fan for the sake of your anniversaries .

I don't see any problem with getting married during a UT game as long as you don't expect any of your male friends to show up.

Ironic: I was married on the third Saturday in October, Tn v Al. I never forget my anniversary date. BTW, I still caught the game on TV

Two of my good friend's got married this past Saturday... Didn't go. Sorry, if you have to get married during football season, then the only way I show is if it's on the Vols bye week.
Some things just can't be overlooked.

Congrats tho OP. I wish you nothing but the best. I have been married for 15 years and its been great.
