Turned a corner I think

I'm not going to read through hundreds of pages to see if any one else has already said this, so if I'm not the first to express this observation, my apologies.

I've been watching this team for years now, as many of you have. With so many opportunities to see failure this past decade, looking for reasons, seeing many of them, sometimes you can overlook some and not really give them enough relevance. What I saw Saturday took time to realize at first, then admire it as I recognized it and feel it just like CJP. I was sitting here, down a bit, frustrated reading the boards and much negativity, watching this team journey to another loss. During the third quarter, this team seemed to change. It happened when the Georgia player came in and did the unsportsmanlike penalty. After that, the guys looked to be standing taller, not confident like they were going to win like Georgia, but pissed off finally that they weren't gonna take it anymore. This team hasn't shown any real fight in years, they get a little up in wins, but I've never really seen passion like I watched yesterday. It was just a start and hasn't fully grown yet, but they changed. Deciding that enough was enough. If we're going to lose, fine, but it won't be because we didn't fight back. I saw a team defense, with a few exceptions, that was trying with strip and generate that turnover to flip the game, I saw an attitude on offense that just because we aren't as talented, we aren't going to give in. They made me hopeful for the future, moreso than I've been. I can understand the emotions by coach, it's wonderful to finally see the beginnings of that occur. I believe it will spread and grow stronger as the season elapses. It may not get the victory we all want, but it has, I believe, truly began the climb back. Chip on the shoulder, playing with determination and anger, hitting back instead of circling and jabbing. This is a team that will start being fun to watch again.
I actually agree with your statement. I was wondering if it was just me. Glad to hear someone else saw that enough is enough attitude out there. Hopefully it translates sooner than later.

Ol and DL upgrade changes this entire team. We can win a lot of games next season if we can find players that can address these two parts of the team. DL just needs a couple guys. OL needs five or six players that know how to block and play with effort. I really think were gonna be good enough in every other area because both linebackers and secondary return a lot of players. WR and RB the same. QB JG should be ready to play big. This season winning any is still about the OL giving us a chance.

Oh ST##. It must be miserable to be so negative about everything. Tennessee was supposed to lose this game by 31 or more points. After a disastrous game against Florida where nothing went right, this same team went on the road to face the #2 team in the nation and was only down 12 points late in the game.

Do you get that? Being down only 12 points is a lot better than being down 30 or 40 points. Spare me the BS about there being no such thing as moral victories. The Vols weren't expected to be in the game in the 4th qtr yesterday, but they were.

It takes effort to be as negative as half of this fanbase is. Last week it was "oh Florida is terrible and we are even worse." Now that Florida went to MSU and won and Tennessee played better against Georgia, the Negavols are saying they are overrated and aren't worthy of being #2. Now there's some mental gymnastics!

Oh, and one last thing...... One of those last tds "when the chips were down" came off our only turnover of the game. And let's not pretend that their first touchdown wasn't a fluke either. Despite all that, Tennessee was the first team to hold Georgia under 40 points this season and should have held them to 31. But no... That's not something to build on for a team that got shutout by Ga 41-0 last year and went winless in SEC play.. Oh! And they also went over a month without scoring an offensive touchdown... But no... We haven't seen any improvement. *sarcasm.*

It's completely exhausting to read through the negativity of many on this board. I have pity for anyone who sees everything with such a downtrodden, loser mentality. Our Vols are improving and if you don't see that you're just choosing to ignore the evidence. Great teams are not formed overnight. This team is improving steadily with their fundamental plays. For the first time in a long time I was proud watching our boys show grit and toughness, despite facing a team with more talented players. Get on board or move along boys and girls. The Big Orange is coming!!

They are learning to line up for a punt and after all the penality's, I don't think you will get any arguments about that fact.
Go Vols

Are we officially moral victory u?

I liked the fight they showed, but its.meaningless unless it turns into results.
For now we are moral victory U when considering the schedule. We could always get another coach. Who you got in mind? Not even Saban or Meyer could give you what you want right now.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: We've officially hit rock bottom when a 26-point loss to Georgia has us feeling good about things. We've reached the point where "well at least they tried hard this time" is cause for optimism.

But, it is what it is. So yes, Saturday was cause for optimism, and it was good to see they had a little dog in 'em. I was especially proud of the defensive effort, when they got no help from their offensive brethren for most of the game. They could've, and perhaps would've typically, got their heads down and dragged it, but they didn't.

Georgia 74 plays to our 46. Time of possession Georgia 37 minutes to our 23. I don't care who you play this should be a loss everytime. Coaches must get this offense going we can't let teams dominate the time of possession and offensive plays by this margin.

What exactly is it that I have in mind?
Please show me a post where I have mentioned getting another coach?

So true. I cant stand to see how damn negative we are. I have seen Improvement every single week! We are meshing as a team!, finally! It’s great to be a Vol fan right now, we are witnessing what will be, in the near future, a HUGE turnaround. We got the absolute best coach we could’ve ended up with, over Jon Gruden, Leach, and whoever else. If you know football, then you would know we are headed in the right direction. Pruitt has had one half of a recruiting season. Just from that, almost every player he recruited in the last off season is ALREADY contributing in a major way. Wait till these guys are juniors/seniors and Pruitt has a team filled with HIS players. We will be a force to be reckoned with! Get the hell out of here with all that bs negativity! Go big 🍊!

Our defense looked pretty good. We are so still the most unlucky team in the SEC though

To me, the Florida loss was rock bottom. With Georgia, I sensed a pulse. It like when you think someone is dead in a movie and then they open their eyes.
It's coming.

Glad you have the fight. Once skill matches the fight then you will win more games. I can't address the coaching since Dooley and Coach crewcut. I sure will you all well.

We never had a chance in this game, but that was a given. What I and most other intelligent VOLS fans wanted to see was incremental improvements in the trenches and in our ability to play hard through adversity. The team answered that call Saturday. I do not look for moral victories and do not accept mediocrity, so I am still not satisfied. But I am proud of the fight that we showed and if that continues we are moving in the right direction.

The most encouraging part of the attitude adjustment is that the kind of shift that we saw out of our players comes from the coach first. CBJ was all about being a champion of life and winning moral victories. CJP is all about playing winning football. We lost because Georgia is better than we are, but our players showed that they have a desire to win, not just survive. That is the first step toward learning how to win.
