Artificial turf w/ground rubber pellets and sand on top to make it feel more like a natural surface.

Our guys practice on it in the indoor facility.

I liked Ole Miss field too, but they just went back to grass this year. I'll be interested to see how well it does year 1.

Totally missed that. Must have money to burn down there at Ole Miss. What a waste.

Just wondering if anyone has heard any player or coach comments on the playing surface at BoB. Amazing to me that it would be in pristine condition in the limited amount of time available to prepare it.

It wasn't natural grass, it was the new "high tech" turf. Once they put it down it was automatically in great/pristine condition. No maintenance involved.

Well, their turf was at the end of its five-year life cycle anyway, so they were looking at a million to put in a new artificial surface. Went with grass instead.

Kentucky put in turf last year and is already exploring going back to grass. Currently, UK, Vandy, Arkansas and Missou are the only SEC schools with turf. That's not a group I want to join.

Grass will always be better than artificial turf. The problem is maintaining a grass field and keeping it in good shape throughout the season. It's hard and thus we see the fake stuff with the pellets popping up. There is nothing better than a nice grass field.

They used a very rich nutrient soil and a very very fast growing seed. It grew fast and they mowed it perfectly. The only odd thing was that there were little rubber pellets popping up every time someone hit the ground. hmmmm....weird.

Lol, I did notice every hard fall looked like there was a little splash of black on my HD screen.

I'm old school. I hate artificial turf of any kind. Give me a good real grass field any day. Florida's looked great on Saturday.

If it was seeded, it may have been rye.

I don't think so, looks nothing like it....
