Just wondering if anyone has heard any player or coach comments on the playing surface at BoB. Amazing to me that it would be in pristine condition in the limited amount of time available to prepare it.

NFL teams have taken out their grass fields in mid-season and replaced them with Field Turf. They've got this down pat.

But the field looked amazing.

Both teams practiced on it and said it was great pregame as well as an NFL field guru said it was one of the 5 best fields he had ever seen. This was on Sports Talk Friday afternoon

Butch commented on his show yesterday that the playing surface was incredible. Not sure if he's trying to make a push, but that's what he said.

They used a very rich nutrient soil and a very very fast growing seed. It grew fast and they mowed it perfectly. The only odd thing was that there were little rubber pellets popping up every time someone hit the ground. hmmmm....weird.

I really hope our field holds up this year. It was beyond embarrassing by the time November rolled around last season.

Yeah, When North Texas fans (no offense to them) are complaining about it being the worst field they've played on, it's bad.

I need to figure out how they grew it so fast. Got some spots in my yard I need to fill in...

Those little pellets was the fertilizer made from scraping rubber from racing tires offa the walls at all the NASCAR tracks. Mix that with the tires offa the roofs of trailers in Alabammys tornado alley, grind it up and it makes this newfangled turf stuff really fast and strong.

Just so you know.

I love grass at Neyland, but if what happened last season keeps up, spend the $$ and lets install the same field as the one in Bristol, et al. Ole Miss' field looks great too.

It is artificial turf. They had a web cam setup so you could watch them put it down a few weeks ago.

I liked Ole Miss field too, but they just went back to grass this year. I'll be interested to see how well it does year 1.
