Turf at Neyland?

This is just my opinion. At my old high school In Morristown *east* they installed turf, It was really cool and when I went to wait on my brother at his band camp at the school I'd even help the ppl install it from time to time. A lot of schools really liked it but a lot of the players didn't for various reasons, I'm one of the ppl that prefers natural because to me football should only be played on grass traditionally and cause it adds more to the game. Only way I'd be ok with Neyland putting it down, is if they had it Orange, and we needed to cut back on money. INHO

Bad idea. Pretty sure he is just making a comment to the crowd. This would never happen given all the money TN has put into that turf.
You mean Grass field and I agree... It's taken a long time to get the field looking the way it does now. we have one of the nicest fields in the country, NFL or College.

It would be stupid to switch back. The players prefer grass, synthetic is hotter and slippier

Outdoors practicing in the rain is a good thing.

Past coaching staffs would disagree, turf or not. Wet ball drills are one thing, but rain, even on synthetic turf causes the risk of injury to increase exponentially.

I say let the current players decide. If Dooley asks them and they'd rather play on turf go ahead. Endzones would definitely look better if we did

Yeah, plus they need to do something about the power T in the middle of the field! For one, it's too damn small. Two, it always looks faded and unpronounced. I want to see a huge, bright, vivid power T in the middle of that field!

It doesn't really matter to me about Neyland getting turf..I'm not dead-set against it but the Titans need it in their stadium for sure...

Either that or just some better groundskeepers. That field does look pretty crappy most of the time. Maybe it'll be better this year, because I'm sure they had to completely redo the entire field after it spent a week under a foot of water due to flooding.

Difference between Neyland and LP Field in Nashville is useage. Neyland gets 7 home games, one high school jamboree, and usually two scrimmages, all with at least a week in between to allow for mowing and regrowth.

LP Field hosts a minimum of 10 Titans games (2 preseason, 8 regular season), along with 6-7 Tennessee State games, depending on the year, many of those coming either the Thursday or Saturday before a Titans game.

I've been on the field at Ole Miss and it's a great playing surface.

You're starting to see it a lot more on the high school level. I know here in Morristown, we had no other choice than to go with the fieldturf. Not only do East and West play on the field, but all the middle schools and pee wee teams play on it too. The natural grass just took a beating and we couldn't keep it maintained well enough. It was so bad a few years back when East and West played in the playoffs against each other they had to move the game to Carson Newman.
