Noel and Goodwin will both go in the first round. WCS and Poythress would be drafted in the first round if they had decided to declare for the draft as well.

Kentucky had the most raw talent in the SEC this season.

Not really. They were a lot of hype, and little substance, especially mentally. Several didn't buy into the "team" aspect they signed up for either.

Could this happen again next season? Sure, but there will be A LOT more depth and an injury won't cripple them like Noel's did. Guys that act like Goodwin and Poythress simply won't play if they act like those two did this year. Cal should have the luxury of benching guys that he didn't have this year.

Obviously things change after the season starts, ie where UT finished after learning Maymon was not coming back. But, preseason, like this time last year, UK should have won the SEC. That's the point. The guy took a negative route to argue that UT won't be contending for the SEC title with how he said UK should win it. Same thing was said last year for UK and look at how that turned out.

My only disagreement is that this season I didn't see UK as the hands-down favorite to win the conference, even at full strength. They lacked depth, leadership, and experience. Florida returned a lot of depth and experience, as did Missouri and Tennessee (prior to knowing the extent of Maymon's injury). I think you could have made a solid, though inconclusive case for any of those four teams prior to this season.

Next year, I think UK is the clear-cut favorite. They will have depth that they sorely missed this year and the talent is better. Talent and depth that no one in the SEC can match.

Complaint about roster are scholarships to Landry, Yemi, Edwards, and possibly even Reese and Chevious. Which of them is ever gonna make much difference for Tennessee. None are SEC quality players and will never even be great backups in the future. I can see one or two mistakes but this looks like five.

Recruiting is sometimes a gamble. Landry did not look like a bad offer when it was first made. Chievous, Reese and Yemi have all contributed to the team at one point or another and while none look like they will ever be all-SEC, I expect each will contribute solid minutes in the future as they have already done (you are talking about 2 freshmen and a guy that is still learning the game). Edwards is what he is, a gamble made for short term help at an area of need (outside shooting). His shooting seemed fine but his defense suffered. Many guys struggle going from JUCO to major D1. He was only a 2 year commitment and at the time worth that risk.

All coaches have misses. And for varying reasons. Martin seems to think he can turn every undervalued guy into an all-SEC performer. That's his call. Pearl was bad for taking on projects too (Brian Williams). He also took on bad attitudes hoping he could change them (Ramar Smith). Plus Pearl at times seemed to take style over substance (Woolridge).

The irony that I find is the number of people lamenting a lack of scholarships to give Juco guys (that weren't highly recruited out of high school) because Martin has a Juco guy and other players that weren't highly recruited out of high school instead.

If we are lamenting Martin not having signed a middle to high level PG in his first 2 years. Yeah I'm in agreement with that. Not landing the kid that went to A&M last year is still aggravating. Martin took Moore instead and while he may turnout to be a solid SF for UT, he is not the PG That was needed.

I think you are getting caught up in comparing Kentucky's classes. Sure, this year wasn't as good as year's past at UK. But, this UK team still has several guys who have NBA talent.

Florida and maybe Missouri were the only other teams that could even somewhat compare with talent. Can you say the same about them? Boynton, Murphy, Young? Oriakhi, Bowers, Pressey? Not all are surefire NBA talent.
