Tulane @ Ole Miss

Boise State has always been a fraud...

Their record vs Power 4 teams:
ACC (3-2)
Florida State (1-0)
Virginia Tech (1-0)
Virginia (1-1)
Boston College (0-1)

SEC (1-5)
Georgia (1-1)
Arkansas (0-2)
Ole Miss (0-1)
South Carolina (0-1)

Big Ten (0-5)
Michigan State (0-1)
Oregon (0-1)
Penn State (0-1)
Washington (0-1)
Wisconsin (0-1)

Big XII (2-4)
Baylor (0-1)
UCF (0-1)
Iowa State (1-0)
Oklahoma (1-0)
Oklahoma St (0-2)

Pac-12 (14-18)
Arizona (1-0)
Arizona State (1-1)
Oregon (3-0)
Oregon State (5-6)
UCLA (0-2)
Washington (2-4)
Washington State (2-5)

Notre Dame (0-1)

They built their record winning 17-35 vs P4 teams at either the first game of the year or a bowl game, and SEVEN of those wins were against Washington State/Oregon State
Like all.Bama fans, you have somehow forgot the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.

Did the conference commissioners have to vote to approve the reported deal that gives Notre Dame an automatic playoff berth if they finish in the top 12? If so, why would they approve that?
I believe that was a throwback to ole deal they had with the BCS. I believe that’s what they had to do to get invited to a BCS bowl was finish on the top 12. I believe it all goes back to money, if Notre Dame gets a spot in most years it would have been over a lower valued school, so more people would watch with Notre Dame being in a spot.

The inclusion of automatic qualifiers is probably the most objective criteria there is - you win your conference, you are in. IMO that is how it should be. If a team cannot win their conference, they should not get an automatic bid. Don't care who they are.

The SOS and SOR are not objective at all - go look at the numbers - most of the teams with the top SOS are not in the playoff because they lost too many games because of the SOS. A lot of teams with a good SOR have a lower SOS - probably why they won so much because their SOS was not that difficult.

Who is the best is completely subjective, always has been.

I do think the current model does end up with the top 4 or 5, maybe 6 teams in the mix - which was the goal of going to 12.
Clearly

The whole ND situation is bizarre. Where every other conference has a commissioner representative, ND has its AD and obviously he has one and only one concern. Giving them that level of authority has led to all of this crying and grandstanding. Im guessing they felt they had to put something in to give ND a level of satisfaction because he was voting just to move the meetings along. Imo they should have left them out of the meetings and told them to join a conference and there wouldn't be all of this nonsense. What are they going to do? Sue them? Join another league?

who cares? It was a fluke game that required fluke trick plays to win against an Oklahoma team that constantly choked in big games

Appy State beat Michigan once too, and they still are a crappy program that doesn't ever deserve to sniff a playoff

I bet Florida fans are thinking, oh boy. Here we go again.😅
Replaced Sunbelt Billy with Sunbelt Jonny

However, think they are saving money to buy better horses for their water polo team

No, it was Oklahoma and Boise State. Alabama hasn’t been to the Fiesta Bowl since 1991. Unless you’re confusing Utah beating Alabama in the ‘09 Sugar Bowl, I don’t know what game you’re referencing.
That was a great game! Wasn’t that when Boise ran the famed Statue of Liberty play to win?
